I did one of the gator guards about 15 years ago on an old ranger.

was easy...and worked great

gator guard is a little cheaper than some of other brands...but gator used 3m products if I remember right

ive got aluminum now...but if I was ever in the market...I’d go gator....no regrets

I had a keel guard failure on each of the last two boats I've owned. I replaced with "KeelGuard" brand that I bought at Cabela's. The first one that I replaced eight years ago was still going strong when I sold that boat this spring. The other one was just put on the boat a month and a half ago. Only reason I went with that brand was because it was handy for me to grab it at the store. Installing the new KeelGuard was pretty straight forward and easy. Removing the old one...not so much!

I think it all comes down to prep...but also have to consider materials

i know I bought some cheap masking tape a year or so ago...that stuff was terrible...couldn’t even get it off the roll in one piece.

You can’t go wrong with 3m products

The "Keel Guard" brand has a lifetime warranty on the product, and is owned by the same company as Hamby's

We did a Nitro with a Keelguard a few years back.  Two person job makes it easier.  We did it on the trailer in storage unit.  Still going strong.

Take your time and prep the boat as the instructions say.  Don't cut corners or rush it.
