I haven't seen it yet this year, but that's always been one of my favorite pieces of the river. Usually is loaded with 12-15" smallies and the occasional trout.

I know for me, it is still about a month early in the summer before I really start to tear into them however.

Ok thanks. I may try that lower stretch. Sounds more like I’m looking for. Overnight or two would be great.

Talk to mountain creek Campground about  a shuttle, I know they will do that shuttle for fisherman. It could be made a 3 day trip no problem.

New to the board.  Love this thread.  Been living right on the Niangua for last year, tryin to figure out fishin’ on the river.  Grew up a Truman Lake kid, so it’s a little different.  Always learning.

Been catching several smaller smallies around my place and some small goggle eye and brown trout, but I just can’t catch the bigger fish.
