45acp Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 The blues have been on fire this summer below Truman. Anyone tried it below Bagnell lately? There ought to be some fish down there now.
45acp Posted August 5, 2019 Author Posted August 5, 2019 We went and tried it on Saturday. Launched at Tuscumbia 6:00am. Ran upstream, stopped at Lick Creek and set out a trotline. Ran up to the dam and started fishing. Did some bump drifting, anchored up on a couple spots and tried that. Few other boats out didn't see much catching going on. Picked up two blues on one drift - boom boom - just like that. Decent fish 10-12 pound size. Lost a nice channel cat at the boat at the 75 yard line below powerhouse. Didn't see a hybrid or a white bass or a crappie. Getting close to lunchtime the pleasure boaters started showing up so we headed back down river. Caught a couple fat largemouth on the bend below 54 hiway bridge. Talked to some guys who were crappie fishing the creeks - said they were catching a few but not really mopping up. Bump drifted our way downstream and picked up another seven blues, none of them very big, 3-5 pound eaters. Trotline was a strike out. Several hooks stripped but no fish. So, for me, right now, conditions being what they are... it's worth the extra hour and half in the truck to get on LoTO below Truman. BilletHead, Seth and snagged in outlet 3 3
45acp Posted January 3, 2020 Author Posted January 3, 2020 Bagnell has been running ~30kcfs since Sunday. My boat is home from its winter tune-up. The blues should be biting. I'm going tomorrow. Hope they don't close the spigot. Anyone been down there this week to give a report?
fishinwrench Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Quite a few have been fishing it during this nice weather. Some decent bass and crappie are being caught, but I haven't heard of anyone doing well on Cats or Hybrids.
45acp Posted January 7, 2020 Author Posted January 7, 2020 Got there around lunchtime on Saturday and stayed til dusk. Plenty of 48° water ~25kcfs coming through the turbines and bringing mountains of shad with it. Didn't see a catfish. Didn't see a crappie. Didn't see a white bass or hybrid. Didn't see a walleye. Didn't see a spoonbill. Caught 20+ spots/largemouth. Lost count of how many bluegill we caught, but we brought 35 nice ones home and had a fish fry on Sunday. snagged in outlet 3 1
Seth Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 My buddy was up there yesterday and said they wore out the little whites, caught a pile of little dinker catfish and snagged several spoonbill by accident on blade baits and crankbaits. I don't think they tried for any crappie. A few guys I know have been up there doing well on the nice whites/hybrids. I'm pretty sure they are using a-rigs. Saw a pick on FB from Friday or Saturday of a 14-9 hybrid that somebody had caught.
