Hunter75 Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 Fished from 6-9 am. Had lots of top water activity this morning. Fishing a spook and 3.8 keitech on a 1/4 oz head. Had close to 30 fish with only 5 or 6 keepers. Had the trifecta this morning but mostly spots. Lost a real nice smallie at the boat that almost made me cry, biggest smallmouth I have ever seen. Fished mainly deep points with timber. Boat was in 30-50 feet of water the whole time and the graph was completely lit up the whole time. They were just flat out feeding this morning and it was an absolute blast. Got lucky and picked the right spot and the right baits. merc1997 Bo, Hunter91, Johnsfolly and 7 others 10
Quillback Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 I am trying to stay away from the Rock, too far to drive for only a few hours of morning fishing. So I'd rather not see a report like this as it will make me want to head over there. However sounds like it was a lot of fun! Johnsfolly, Hunter75 and magicwormman 2 1
m&m Posted August 18, 2019 Posted August 18, 2019 Hunter, some days you win and some days the fish win. Sounds like you had a winning day for the dog days of August. Mike
Johnsfolly Posted August 18, 2019 Posted August 18, 2019 Congrats @Hunter75! Sounds like a great morning of catching on TRL!
Hunter75 Posted August 21, 2019 Author Posted August 21, 2019 right place, right time, right conditions and right baits. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. Couldn't repeat the same thing on sunday morning, had a thunderstorm blow through and the fish weren't on any of the points i fished saturday.
