Shotgun

Got a 20ga. Shotgun Full Choke. It shoots a tight group of Rifled Slugs. I put a Scope on it for Deer.

I thought about cutting the Choke out but decided to leave it because I didn’t want to mess up the way it is shooting.

Thinking of taking it Turkey Hunting.

Thoughts.

Should be fine for turkey in close.  If it handles 3” I would go for the extra shot count.

It’s just a Cheap Gun.

I’ve used 20Ga. On several Turkeys I figure Scope should put the Pattern right in there. I’ve killed birds with 2 3/4 High Brass so 3” should be a Cake Walk. I like 6 Shot.

Got 3 12Ga. But like 20Ga. Better for Deer.

I have one 12Ga. That is supposed to outshoot any other Gun and I have killed out to 60 yards but the Gun kills at both ends being so light.

If it patterns well with whatever load you shoot it should be good to go.

I was wondering of using #7 Shot instead of #6. Just the idea of more shot.

I know heavier equals more distance but bulk of the time they are not that far.

With lead I wouldn’t go smaller than 6, but that is me.  I usually spend the extra money for copper coated cuz I get better patterns.

Back when I was into turkey hunting I always used copper coated shot too, but now that I'm into airguns and have experimented with copper coated pellets I don't think there is any benefit at all.   In an airgun they do keep the barrel cleaner but there is no change in deformation upon impact. The pellet isn't any harder at all.

In a shotgun, the barrel is isolated from the shot by the wad....so I can't think of any reason at all to use copper coated shot shells.  Seems like a waste of money.   What is the advertised benefit of them ? Are they supposed to hold a tighter pattern or something?  If so I would seriously doubt that.
