You can thank Ameren for holding the plug in.  I'm sure the Corp would love to send some water downhill.

They claim that they'll drop LO 5ft. by mid Feb. so maybe Truman, Pomme, and Stockton can loose a foot or two. 😂

it is crazy truman has not been 706 in a couple years. I did see they got some water out of LOZ . The Missouri is not high do not understand why they are not getting some water out more Moisture coming this week.

I don't understand what they are doing.  It's been the opposite extreme for the last 10 years during the off season.  The only thing you can count on is that lake O will be 658.5ish right before Memorial day.

Sigh, I have given up explaining it.

The explanation you gave, unless I missed the explanation you're referring to, was 180° contrary to what happens in the real world.    So please try again and I will attempt to process it like someone who has never been here before.  🙂

Nope, continue to march with what you believe, trust me it's much more entertaining that way.

Mopan i know you work for the Corps i understand your defending your employer. But there is nothing you can say that defends the way they have managed these lakes one time you tell us to watch the Guage in Herman MO. Okay we do that no problem water will be fine. The SWPA needs to say screw Amerun and get rid of some water. LoZ can dump it and lower there Lake no harm no foul. i Guarantee you you will get enough Spring Rains to fill all your lakes up. Would be nice to see all these Corps lakes get a much needed NORMAL Elevation spawn off without a major rise or Spawn tired of hearing these lakes were built for flood control. I guess my annual rant is over Common Sense is all gone. We will never have a major spring rain again

OK.    And one last time bacuse I am not too smart, LOZ level doesn't play into it.  Ameren only wishes it did, call and ask them how much want they want plays into what they get through Truman.  The rules for how much can be released and at what time of the year, with the benchmarks, and balancing the lakes are set and approved by Congress, you don't get to change them on a whim.  While you may not want to hear it, flood control is a MAJOR factor, with hydro electric being second.  LOZ has basically no flood control storage and wasn't designed for it.  That is why they draw down, COE Lakes were designed to store large amounts of flood waters, thus they don't need to draw down below normal levels.  I fully understand that you think I am merely parroting the party line as a govt employee, but those are facts.  Trust me as a fisherman I get hosed ecmverytime the lake level isn't what I personally like to see to fish, but that isn't what it is for.  For what it's worth th crappie populations are about as good as they have ever been right now.  We all have short memories and forget the years where Truman didn't have sufficient water to generate with and the lake level falls below 706 which creates a whole different set of issues, there are no perfect solutions.

MoPan thanks for replying. I fully understand that the irritating thing is all the small creeks and streams that flow into all these lakes are silted in also and these lakes cant hold the volume of water that they use to.  it frustrating that they could be getting rid of this water and the keep jacking with the flow they are almost to the point where there power is worth nothing because of the elevation and they wont release on the weekends and then slow they slow the  flow down at night just go ahead and get it down. I personally dont remember the lake being at 706 in the last 3 years maybe longer i dont know. Not arguing the point with you appreciate your explanation understand flood control but also understand common sense and sometimes i wonder if the people making these decisions understand it.

Here we go again, and please don't take this personally because #1 you're among my favorite people on here, and #2 I really don't give a hoot.....but how can you/they say that Lake O doesn't play into it?  You can't tell me that the reason Truman held water all last year (lapping the top of the flood gates) and the reason they are holding 11-14' of excess water NOW isn't because they are afraid to take L.O. over 660.

Effective flood control NEEDS to be adjusted on a whim....and it obviously is.  There's no waiting from approval from Congress before every adjustment or change in flow.  If that were the case then they'd NEVER be able to manage the Memorial day level of Lake O every single year and have it miraculously land perfect each time.

Everything your standing firm on is contradictory to the words that came out of the ACOE's mouth at the meeting last year in Warsaw.   It's still on the record, word for word, and can be Googled.   Have you heard/read it?
