Members Jaxxed Posted August 18, 2020 Members Posted August 18, 2020 Hello from MN! Me and my son have been wanting to fish the Current,Meramec or any of the other rivers down your way. We are trying to figure out if there is free camping on river banks like we have at designate spots up here on the Miss and the Croix. I run a Alweld 1856 JC with a Yamahammer 225 ob jet so running skinny water isnt a issue.
Bushbeater Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 No real designated areas, but you're good to camp on gravel bars below the normal high water level. Just stay away from gravel bars with ATV access or you may have someone joining you for breakfast. snagged in outlet 3 and Greasy B 2

Meramec is wide open to you but the floaters are thick as thieves. You can camp anywhere on the Meramec you want or can find and there is plenty. I've only fished the upper Current for trout so maybe someone else can help you there. PM me for more info if you like.

Gavin Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 You cant run more than 40hp, above Big Spring on the Current, which is downstream from town of Van Buren, and there is a section around Van Buren that is outside the park with no HP limits. Park boundary ends at Gooseneck Landing a couple miles north of Doniphan. snagged in outlet 3 1
