I'm a city boy, what's a "thumper" in the world of moonshine?

It's the doubler, a keg between the pot and the condenser that provides a second distillation on a single run, in effect it doubles the percentage of alcohol from ~40% to ~90%, perhaps more than doubles, and it is supposed to trap some of the toxic stuff that makes your customers go blind or die off too soon.

A thumper keg is used between the stillpot and the condenser to increase alcohol content above 50%  (second distillation)

Guide in Canada would mark fish and if they were not active, he made a couple laps over the X to stir them up a bit.

I've done that with Whites, it works about 1/2 the time.  Sometimes just enough to help you finish out a limit if the bite quits before you've limited out.

One of my buddies has a Hydro-Wave, and after about 10 trips out with it we still can't come to the conclusion that it truly works.
