Maverickpro201 Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 Question for Fishinwrench or anybody else who may know. Looking at buying a 06 - 250 Pro XS, so I do not have the serial number. Motor has 181 hoursHad compression checked and all cylinders were 120 to 125, except one it was 100. Leak down on number 1 cylinder showed a slow leak.So questions are What is wrong with this and how do we fix it?Would you buy it?Thanks for your help.
fishinwrench Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 If it is the original powerhead and has never been rebuilt, then it either has a broken piston ring, scored cylinder, or a head gasket leak. Since you said that a leak down test only revealed a "slow leak", then there is a possibility that someone has done a sloppy rebuild job, or purchased a cheap replacement powerhead....and the rings just haven't fully seated yet. If I could look at the powerhead I could tell you whether or not it has been taken apart or replaced, but if you can't then you are at the mercy of the sellers knowledge and honesty. If it were me that was considering buying it I would rather it be the original powerhead/never rebuilt. And I would buy with the assumption that it is going to need a rebuild (3800.00 off the top). luckycraft and snagged in outlet 3 1 1
