Has anyone ever heard of these lures? I was told they were a great SM bait in Tennessee and Kentucky a few years back. Maybe it was their version of the Ned rig.

Holmes Creek is in Middle TN on Center Hill Lake.  I have fished it, its a canyon that was dammed up with 2-300 ft depths.  Doubt if that would do much good.  Maybe they use them below on the Caney Fork which is basically a float stream from the dam to confluence to the Cumberland.  Trout are the mainstay on the upper end due to the tailwater discharge. 

Personally, they look like a good smallie bait.  Should work.  What weight is the jig head?

1/8 oz. is what I have. I bought a estate from a fisherman who had a bigger sickness than me. I have several cards of these baits. Someone thought they could catch fish!

How did you do on Center Hill? I hear it is a pretty good lake!

Dang it, Spoony. A man can't keep any secrets.

Very similar to the Northland Whistler jig. Megabass is making a version also. I've made them on dart heads for years.

It's a slow chunk and wind bait, like a grub or swimbait. Brown fish will eat it.

Walleye anglers love them too.

It was about 5 years ago in August.  We spent most of our time on the Caney Fork messing with the trout.  The lake was on draw down doing seismic work on the dam.  Most boat ramps were closed.  The one we were able to launch at was several lanes wide but only one side was open.  My buddy launched me off in the boat and the depth finder revealed the reason for the lane closures.  The ramp ended on a large flooded cliff.  Lake was pulled down to the point that the other parts of the ramp and other ramps in the area would have about a 100' drop at the end.

We fished around the lower part but could not really get much action.  The whole area was pretty much a canyon before the area flooded, not much shallow water.  Rumor had it that the upper middle part of the lake was having a walleye die off due to low oxygen levels.  People were scooping them up off the top to salvage.

The river below was filled with small TN stocker trout.  If they generated, we could run the jet boat downstream.  Never really seen or caught any with size.  Most were 8-10" fish.  We probably caught 100 apiece below the dam on the flyrod one after noon fishing where nobody else could access.  We were the only boat.

One thing about any kind of lure, they never get cheaper.  If I find something I really like and the fish like them too, I tend to buy a few extra.  Never know when they quit making them.

I've never fished Center Hill, but I've been on it a couple times. It's a beautiful lake, I'd like to fish there sometime.
