Oh stop it. The political section was shut down because of comments like this. 😁

Yeah I forgot about THAT.   I lied like a rug in that thread.   🤪

I suppose, but I haven't FIXED one yet.   It's no fun taking somebody's money if I can't be a hero by actually eliminating the problem.  🙄

A 4-stroke outboard is good for 2 oil changes, 2 gear lube changes, and 1 water pump refresh.   By that time they get so low on power that they can barely shove a boat back on the trailer.....and they can't be helped for a reasonable fee.     They won't even live long enough to burn up the original set of spark plugs.  😢

Well I'll make a challenge on the 4 stoke reliability.

I put just over 6 thousand hours on a Suzuki 140 4 stoke and it was still running when I sold it.

Back many years ago I had a 140 V4  Evinrude that crapped out at 200 hours. Replaced it with a 150 Evinrude 150 V6 and had nothing but problems... 2 lower units replaced and then powerhead issues.

Guess that is why OMC and their savior BRC-Etec are no longer in the outboard motor business.

I ain't buying your 6000 hr. BS.   🙄

And.....#1 if your Evinrude 140 blew up at 200 hours then whoever set it up, or the captain driving it was responsible.   Same with your 150 V6.

Also "many years ago" nobody knew how many HOURS were on their outboard.  Knowing that information didn't become a thing until ECM's were incorporated on outboards.  And don't even attempt to convince us that you had a keyswitch hour meter installed..... ain't nobody with any brains believing that.

Myself and many MANY others are still running Evinrude's from the 70's and 80's.   How many 40+ year old Suzuki's can you find on the water?

Hell, I challenge you to find a 20 year old Mercury or Yamaha, while you're at it.   Even the early '90's Precision Blends have become extremely rare.  A few exist as showpieces.... but you'll seldom see one stirring water anywhere.

The 140 was 1982 model on a 20 foot Mako offshore boat and yes there was hour meter in the console. A connecting rod broke and destroyed the powerhead. The dealer gave me a pretty good deal on the 150.

Fortunately the issues with the 150 were covered under warranty.

Why wasn't the failure on the 140 covered under warranty ?

It was out of warranty period.

I was hoping you'd say that.  😂

The gentleman who typically puts 2000 hours per year on his motors.....took over 5 years to put 200 hours on one.     Gotcha 👍
