Anybody know where the Big Niangua stops being considered part of Lake of the Ozarks and an ozark stream instead? Know a few guys who ran up the rivers this past weekend during the Bash and it had me wondering since Ozark streams are currently closed for possessing bass.

Anyplace above the elevation of 660.0 is no longer Lake of the Ozarks.

Google Earth will tell you.

I know where that spot is on Gravois creek, Big Buffalo, and on the Little Niangua, but never looked it up anywhere else.

With the lake at it's current level it is highly unlikely that you can get a boat above the lake unless you get out and do alot of dragging.

I'm just guessing but about 2 miles up from HahaTonka there's a kinda delta area with a bunch of islands and slews. When you get much above there it becomes much more riverine, although it's about another couple miles to the first riffles when the lake is full. In my 12 years hanging around that area I've only seen a conservation officer once and that was when I had Illinois tags on my boat. Anyway, 660 would be about 2-3 miles up from Tonka

I emailed MDC and the Camden CO CA sent me this. Before he sent that, I got on Google Earth and checked the elevation along the path of that part of the river and it said it was over 660' right around that vicinity as well. @fishinwrench you were right on the elevation deal. I'll have to keep that in mind for other bodies of water.

This is the image the CA sent me. Purple mark is the cut off.

Yeah I had to fight a trespassing case (without a lawyer) about 18 years ago, and that is the argument that I used to avoid being prosecuted for it.

I had been busted prior to that further up the creek, so beings as how they hassled me so badly on the later one....and I won....they wiped my record clean of the previous conviction (which I actually was TECHNICALLY guilty of) so that I wouldn't file a harassment suit.
