Foghorn Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 Miss Susie and I decided to test the crowds and water at Montauk this past 4th of July. Started in the campground near campsite #109 around 930. The campground was full of people but that section of the park downstream was empty of fishermen as far as I could see . We didn't find many fish in that section other than a nice rainbow close to where we started. As we got closer to the handicap access, the fishing picked up. We got out of the water there and walked down to the 300 camping area. Started seeing and catching fish all the way down to the electric hole. Did see several nice browns in the 2.5-4# range but they weren't buying what I was selling. All totaled we caught in the neighborhood of 40-45 fish between us. Most of the fish were caught on egg, scud or beadhead patterns. Johnsfolly, nomolites, BilletHead and 1 other 4
Johnsfolly Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 @Foghorn Sounds like a great way to spend the holiday. Congrats on finding the fish and the pattern for what they wanted to eat!
