Hello all,

I bought a place around the 81 mm of the lake and was wondering if there were any tips you could spare for a newbie? I have gone out a couple times and have found that area is more like the Missouri river, as far as, current goes than I EVER would of thought. I see a lot of folks trolling, but I have no idea where to start, for what species are around there, and what to use. It is a little overwhelming. Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you!

Welcome to the lake. I'm about 55 miles by water from you and I've never fished up that way. My go to is squarebills around shallow cover.

You have everything up that way . Crappie , bass , walleye , huge catfish , white bass , and hybrids . There’s plenty of pockets and creeks to get back into for bass . Just be careful going in and out of them . The river gets shallow fast in spots so better have some mapping on your boat .

Agree with LVN2Fish.  There are plenty of species there. I have a place at 81 as well and did decent yesterday with crappie. The key is to get out there. It took me a while to figure out that area. Be sure to not be bashful and fish close to the docks. Its not illegal to cast around them. This tends to be the area that the bass/crappie tend to hang out around. Walleye I have only caught trolling out on the main channel.  Feel free to PM me as well. When spring hits the level will be real low until about a week before Memorial Day and everything is basically mud.  But there are some rock areas at the first turn in Turkey Creek...during the summer it turns into a party area on weekends is the only problem.
