Man i was thinking the water color in the James is perfect. It starts clearing up just before Aunts Creek

I was referring to Quills TW bite! I fished yesterday morning and the visibility here was about 15 inches. Not good for TW!

I told a buddy where I got those fish, he went there and they were gone.  Maybe they did head up to the James.  😃  Of course they aren't the size you need for your tourneys, I love catching them, especially on top, but they aren't what I'd call tourney fish.

I’ve always found it to be hard to catch the other guy’s fish.  I couldn’t even catch mine.  Where we caught them on Tuesday I only had two small spots and a yellow bellied goggle eye on Thursday.

Dutch, you really nailed it. It is so hard to replicate another guys success or even location or technique.

In all my years only one time has a location or bait worked for me. Phil Stone put Beck and I on a stretch of bank on a wart.

We caught a big limit in about 45 minutes on a city block long wiggle wart stretch right where he said he left them the day before.

Trouble is if they're schooling fish they move. These were March 1st. fish working a crawfish bank.

We've discussed this many times. Why they are on one small stretch and not on 1000 look alike stretches early in the season is a mystery, but that's always the case.

The Tuesday fish were in about 75 yards of over 1/2 mile of similar stuff.  They came in about 45 minutes then it was over.  I’m guessing they moved into the area to feed then headed for a siesta.  They weren’t having lunch in the same diner or the one down the street Thursday.

Never could make it work in tournament fishing. Finally just started fishing my way and my bags got heavier. :)

Of course, Beck could catch one on a wart (or just about anything else for that matter) in the Harter House parking lot.
