jdmidwest Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 Had some good news on Thurs, Doc says the chance of cancer returning is almost nil now after over 4 years. I had a trip planned and we left out early Friday morn in the early heat with the jet boat. It has been brutal this year for the both of us, my product is up 70% in cost and lead times out 16 weeks. His patients are surging with the Covid. We started out on equal grounds. Current River produced good numbers of smallies and surprise goggle eyes. Then we hit a few Sauger and a small walleye. Traffic was light on the river and we enjoyed it till the heat got intense around 1. Off to Riverton and set up camp. Dropped in and went down around 5. Fishing was fair, ended up seeing a group of otters hunting and a Dystemper Coon wandering the bank. Stirred up a flock of buzzards roosting on river. The beauty and peace of the 11 pt brought us back to life. And the lack of any outside contact. We watched the Milky Way rise and swatted skeeters. Sat. and off to finish the part I wanted. I have now been on 11 pt from Thomasville to State Line and other parts above. The last part from 142 down had been missing. We put in at Myrtle and enjoyed the section. It is still a beautiful river down there also. And we had it almost to ourselves from morning to 1. A trip that has been 35 years in the making. Back to camp for a quick nap and dropped in at Riverton down again. Run the buzzards off the roost again, went down further that day. Fishing was still pretty good for the temps. Sunday, pack up camp and back to Current River. Dropped in and run up to holes I did last summer in Social Distance. Found a nice Sauger and the goggle eyes kept us busy. Bass were ok. Traffic on river was a little heavier. Nice lunch at the Lil Black River Cafe of Grilled Salmon with blueberry sauce, grilled shrimp, potato cake, grilled veggies and a salad. Class act. Was surprised by the whole trip. We had 11 pt to ourselves for the most part and not much on the Current. It was the heat or that slack time between school start and Labor Day. I took my first vacation day since June. Summer has been a female doggy. Sorry, no pics, no electronics this weekend. 11 pt make that part easy.
