1988 Mercury 45hp Classic fifty

A friend of mine just put a 4 stroke on his boat and wants to sell this motor. It’s a 1988 Classic fifty 45hp Mercury. Runs good has good compression , carbs just cleaned. Has power trim. Comes with controls and 6 gallon plastic fuel tank. It’s located at Pomme De Terre lake. Clear Mo. title. He’s asking $2100

Had the gray version of this motor. The nice thing about the four cylinder configuration in this motor is that it slow trolls really well, barely creeping along. Walleye guys bought this in a tiller version because they could backtroll with it, something you couldn't do with a standard 50.  The negative aspect is that it sucks gas...I'd run through 12 gallons in a day's fishing, and that was back when gas was well under $2...

Ahhh, nope they don't "drink it" they LEAK IT.  Constant drip-drip-drip from the vertical carb shafts.

Guess who knows how to rectify that ?  😁
