aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 2004 Xr6 150. Yesterday my alarm would give out the slightest little chirp whenever I would trim down while underway not at idle. Has me stumped, everything ran fine. I was going to check and clean connections, check grounds, anything else? Premixed oil so its not that sensor.
fishinwrench Posted July 12, 2022 Posted July 12, 2022 If the oil injection system was terminated properly, then the only thing that can trigger the warning horn is the temperature sensor ,(overheat alarm) circuit. Remove the cowling and post some clear pics of all 4 sides of the powerhead......So I can inspect it. mschmls and snagged in outlet 3 2
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 13, 2022 Author Posted July 13, 2022 ILL take some pics next week. Im out of town for a week. Oil system was removed 3 years ago and has worked fine ever since fishinwrench 1
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 19, 2022 Author Posted July 19, 2022 Just got home and took the hood off found was the brown wire with blue stripe on the starboard side , I think its the heat sensor wire, was rubbed through and grounding out on the block. Would that be my problem? I just wonder why it would only chirp when i hit my trim.
fishinwrench Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 Yes that's an overheat sensor lead, and if it grounds out it will activate the overheat alarm. Has nothing to do with tilt/trim though.... that is an entirely different circuit.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 19, 2022 Author Posted July 19, 2022 Maybe when i hit my trim the motor would bounce enough that the wire would hit the block. It was a very small part of the wire rubbed through. I put some liquid electrical tape on it and heat shrink over that and some tape for extra padding fishinwrench 1
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 19, 2022 Author Posted July 19, 2022 Well i slept all day thinking i had to work tonight, and then my Patient cancelled, so im heading out at about midnight....lol
