Ryan Miloshewski Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Kicked off the season of hate this weekend with teal in Kansas and Missouri. Birds are thin but they're about if you can find the water. We shot 22 in two days, which I consider a great start. Water is scarce right now, so scouting is key. My buddy walked 13 miles before the season in one day and I totaled 10.5 in two weekends. You have to put the leg work in to be successful. We were the only parties to shoot both mornings in the marsh. If you don't want to work for it, you aren't going to shoot birds this time of year. Figured I'd start the thread for the season..going on three years now. Everyone feel free to post your successes, failures, and overall experiences for this, the greatest time of year! @BilletHead did you and Mrs. Billethead get out for the opener? tho1mas, BilletHead, Gavin and 5 others 8 “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold

Gavin Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 By Cuivre Island. Commuter blind. Hunt till 8am, go to work. Ryan Miloshewski and Johnsfolly 2
Ryan Miloshewski Posted September 19, 2022 Author Posted September 19, 2022 Hunted Sunday in Kansas and my buddies hunted in MO. I saw two teal all morning. We had some big storms come through Saturday night so I supposed that sent 'em southward. Guys in MO saw 50-60 teal but they were all landing on the private marsh. This 30 degree drop in temperature Wednesday night should make for a nice end of the early teal season, as those remaining birds in the Dakotas should head on down. I'll be out Thursday-Sunday mornings trying to swat them out of the air. wily Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Anybody going this weekend? Bird count looks bad...and the thought of no water has me looking for excuses but we might try the farm. I’ll probably just save my money tho, so we can hopefully go later. Had a meeting at work today and was told $6 a gallon diesel is coming...gas will be above $4 soon. BilletHead 1

Have that pond in the Horton bottoms we could try but it's nothing but a mud hole. Last time we did the opener, and it was this low hunting was bad. It seems to be our only middle zone opener option.
