Members Wesley Posted February 12, 2023 Members Posted February 12, 2023 Has anybody chased walleyes up the James River past point 15?
Dutch Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 I haven’t specifically but I fish up there a lot with baits that they bite on Stockton and have never caught one. Several years ago we caught some short ones in Flat Creek but none lately. grizwilson 1
curtisce Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 I know they catch them up the Kings in the spring. Any idea why they would favor that tributary over the James? The answer may not lie at the bottom of a glass, but you should always check
Quillback Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 I have seen pics of walleye caught up the James by floaters.

It may be a generational thing. For many years the James was polluted by chemicals which fed into it from Wilson’s Creek via Hoffman Taft. But that is just a guess. grizwilson 1
Flysmallie Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 They are in the river from Wilson’s Creek to Galena year round. I’m not sure on numbers but they don’t have a problem with the water. I never target them but catch a few and see way more. There are some good ones up there too. I don’t know what would change one you get to the lake.
Members run2jeepn Posted March 18, 2023 Members Posted March 18, 2023 I catch a few every year below Springfield Dam.
