I haven’t specifically but I fish up there a lot with baits that they bite on Stockton and have never caught one.  Several years ago we caught some short ones in Flat Creek but none lately.

I know they catch them up the Kings in the spring. Any idea why they would favor that tributary over the James?

The answer may not lie at the bottom of a glass, but you should always check

It may be a generational thing.  For many years the James was polluted by chemicals which fed into it from Wilson’s Creek via Hoffman Taft.  But that is just a guess.

They are in the river from Wilson’s Creek to Galena year round. I’m not sure on numbers but they don’t have a problem with the water. I never target them but catch a few and see way more. There are some good ones up there too. I don’t know what would change one you get to the lake.
