What are your thoughts? Good question but I really don't think the winter temps have anything to do with it. The places we hunt seem to bloom equally every year about the same. I worry more about ground moisture and that magic temperature JD speaks of in his post. I will though watch the harvest this season and see if it changes. We are still in the edge of the drought line. Come on spring rains. tjm Posted February 25, 2023 Share Posted February 25, 2023 I find fewer after a mild winter, i think. When we hit that magic night time temperature the weeds grow faster than the morels if they have already had 4-6 weeks head start. There may be just as many morels, but I don't find them.
