ollie Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Figured if I didn't start the thread someone else would!  😄 After last night's rain and today's rain, the Spring and Neosho should be flowing pretty good. I was down there last week scouting the 10C bridge and the water was super low. I saw the gauge this morning and it is rising! If the water temps are somewhat warm it might start the push upstream. I don't think the water is warm enough yet, but it might be close. I know this weekend I am going down there to give it a shot. Doubtful I will succeed, but you never know. curtisce Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Think with the amount of rain the area has got it may be more than a few days . Had one gentleman who lives near seneca tell me that you wanted to get down there just as it strarts to clear after the river peaks from rain. How many days after the paek I suspects depends on several factors. Would be nice to be close so you could check it easily. The answer may not lie at the bottom of a glass, but you should always check
Bgctrading Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Talked to a guy a week ago he found them by the pump jack hole.
curtisce Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 You can find them anywhere, will they bite? The answer may not lie at the bottom of a glass, but you should always check
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 4, 2023 Root Admin Posted March 4, 2023 We found some whites and one hybrid last week above twin bridges where the docks are. I don't know the names of the places. They were moving around pretty good so we didn't stay on them very good. Caught some nice 2 pounders. The hybrid was about 3 pounds. We were really looking for crappie... and a few of them too. BilletHead and Johnsfolly 2
ollie Posted March 6, 2023 Author Posted March 6, 2023 Went down yesterday to see what is going on and it isn't on yet. Talked with one other person coming back to their truck and they didn't do anything either. I didn't catch anything myself. It was a good scouting adventure though. I checked the flow on Saturday and it was sitting somewhere around 8300 cfs and when I got down there on Sunday it was sitting around 8100cfs. I see today that it is considerably less than those numbers. Makes me think they are running water at the dam. The water was chocolate mud with debris and it had a good flow to it. Didn't see but two or three rigs at the ramp either. BilletHead 1 "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
ollie Posted March 9, 2023 Author Posted March 9, 2023 Going to go out again pretty soon. I read where the lake temps are now hitting at least 50 and, in some places, closer to 55. Should be getting really close to the big run. ollie Posted March 13, 2023 Author Posted March 13, 2023 Went by there on Saturday and the water was still pretty low. Didn't look like a fun time launching a boat! I think I could have waded out to the first pillar and probably only get wet up to my waist. "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
curtisce Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 Flow is 2700 cfs down from a 10,000cfs recent peak. That would seem sufficent. The answer may not lie at the bottom of a glass, but you should always check
