Members Ik314
Ran down to Norfork Tailwater on Sunday with my pops and one of my buddies. We did the almost 10 mile excursion…….4.5 miles from the Dam down to the confluence with the White, and another 5 miles down the White River to Red’s Landing. My dad and buddy were both cussing me for the last mile or two of the white as they weren’t running any water and it got rather lakey. The fishing was worth it though if you ask me! To start the day at The Norfork dam, my dad didn’t want to wait outside in the cold weather while we shuttled, so he took the shuttle job while I stayed at the ramp and got gear ready. I guess karma was shining down on me for the fact that I restrung two of my buddies reels with new fluorocarbon while waiting, and the fact that I let my dad avoid having to wait in 30 degree temps at the ramp. After about a dozen casts from the ramp, my jerkbait my got absolutely demolished by a big brown. The fish came flying out of the water and put up an awesome battle. Luckily for me, there was a nice guide launching his boat at about the same time who offered to net the fish and also measure it on his bump board. Ended up being 27 inches and was just super thick and healthy. After the initial excitement at the ramp, I didn’t feel much pressure for the float haha. We ended up having an excellent day on the float though too. My buddy Josh got the nicest brown on the white portion. I believe I also got my first cutthroat, plus some really nice browns and rainbows. Overall, an excellent day with awesome weather and great fishing. I’d say well worth the tough paddling at the end of the day. Hard to beat a day like this in November!!!
