Maverickpro201
It said some folks are finding morels in SW Missouri now, a few in central Missouri and posting them on face book. Seems a little early. I sure wish this area up here near Hillsboro, MO would get some rain. It has been missing us big time. Plus the weathermen/women are not worth a, you know. MOPanfisher
I have seen some pics of reds around but that is it here. Was too dry for much. Rain and coming warm days coming will probably pop the reds, but I am like you maybe abit early for regular morels, but then again I don't look for them nearly as much as I used to and was never very good at it. Anymore I get too worried about crappie fishing!
Dutch
You guys can have your fungi. We have people trespassing and looking for them from now to late spring. Personally I’ll take vegetables. I saw a couple of asparagus spears when I looked out the window at breakfast. I just came in from a closer look. I have at least 30 spears sticking up from 1 to 12 inches. I’ve never seen them in early March before. I guess I’ll pick them Monday morning. Quillback
MOPanfisher
I have a few skinny spears showing up in the new bed, nothing in the fence rows yet, but I did weed eat and fertilize them, they arw usually a bit later. If you need someone come and pick all the.morwls before the trespassers get them.let me know. Honestly I would rather go fishing.
BilletHead
When we forage and get wild asparagus its always paired with morels. You get the best of both worlds. kjackson
I made the mistake of telling the editor of the local paper that, yes, I would do an article about mushroom picking/hunting/whatever in the Clinton area. I was really keen about wild mushrooms when I lived back in Washington until I discovered that giant puffballs and wine don't mix for me. Since then, I avoided wild mushrooms like a plague. So I'm looking for advice on where to start digging for info, not to mention help and advice. Thanks in advance!
ness
Ahhh, morels are truly wonderful and I almost feel sorry for folks that don’t enjoy them like I do. They are a special, seasonal thing… something I really look forward to each spring. It’s much more than, ‘Oh, that tastes good.’ That said, I met a guy a couple years ago who’s in our small group at church. He got Lyme disease somehow and it is a tough, tough road for him. I don’t want it, and you don’t want it. It scares the crap outta me and almost has me wanting to skip hunting for mushrooms. Now on to asparagus: When I was single a few years back I pulled up my asparagus and black raspberry beds because I figured I needed less to do around here, and also that those would be a liability if I sold the house. I didn’t sell and I sure do miss them, but especially the asparagus. BilletHead 1 John

Treat a dedicated set of outdoor clothes you wear where you are worried about. It protects you and kills ticks dead. While turkey hunting, I have watched ticks start making circles and die. The stuff lasts a long time on your outfit. We love the stuff. ness 1 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Lyme disease can mess you up forever. BilletHead 1 John
