Smallest Line

If you was to use one line for all around Fresh Water fishing what would it be?

I'm thinking 6#.

if I could only have one for warm water fishing it would be 6# for trout 2#

I used 4# nylon mono  for all spin fishing for years and years, but tend more towards 8# these days for very occasional use those rods get. That said the target matters and the bait size too, where large fish are the main target heavier line is called for, imo.  My choice of 4# in the past had more to do with line suppleness and casting distance for fish under three pounds with fairly small lures. 20# line would have no doubt caught just as many fish.

My default tippet size for everything warm-water flyfishing related is 8# fluorocarbon. 

I only drop down to 6# or 4# for Crappie & Bluegill. 

And upside to 12# for bass around heavy cover.

You know I was thinking Trout but I have caught several with 6# Test and #6 hook. I mean like regular.
