There’s a documentary on Netflix currently about the 2011 Joplin tornado called ‘The Twister’. Lots of interviews with people that went through it, footage and news coverage from it. It’s pretty interesting but, in my humble opinion, not really a well-crafted documentary. Regardless, it documents a really tragic event that’s pretty close to home for a lot of us. Certainly worth a watch.

My wife refuses to watch it. She had to go up there the day it hit and work from Memorial Hall (not in use now) for Mercy Hospital. She normally worked on Sundays, but didn't that day. She said she didn't want to relive all of that again. I am going to watch it sometime when she isn't around. At the time I always joked with her about leaving her car at the hospital that day. She was driving an Aveo, and it would have put that car out of it's misery! lol I just remember the day it hit you could hear sirens racing across the county and I live about 20 miles away. We knew something bad happened, but we didn't know until a little later what had really happened.

It sucked. They wrangled up all the meth heads and gay people that were there and tried to make it a political statement instead of focusing on the tragedy, and to be honest, much more heroic stories around it.
