Members Bearplane04 Posted April 13 Members Posted April 13 Launched at ER around 6:30 this morning. 36 degree air and something like 58 degree WT. Couldn’t decide where to go first, but the thick fog sorta set my plans for me. Mostly idled up to Roaring River and ended up bouncing around slowly making my way back and ended up staying there the whole trip. I threw the whole tackle box at them this morning and never locked into a pattern. My best three keepers were 2 LM and a good spot on a tube on the bluffs that came bam bam bam. The tube was a fun bite and I wish I could have done more with it. Caught three more on a flat side in the shallows. Caught one on a jig, one on rock crawler, and one on Texas rig sinko. First time I’ve ever zeroed with Ned. Had one on that absolutely obliterated a z-man but lost it. Lost a couple more on the crawler which was weird too. Headed back around 1:00ish with WT around 61. Lots of people in there trolling and scoping. Probably should have run up the lake but oh well. 9 with 3 keepers not the worst day. snagged in outlet 3, magicwormman, Quillback and 2 others 5
rps Posted April 13 Posted April 13 When you turn into the Roaring River and enter that flat, look to the left and you will see an unimproved launch point just before you reach the channel. Use that point as a reference. Across the river and a little to the right, you will see a small creek that enters. That creek breaks an underwater bluff. The creek itself will hold bass amongst the submerged timber and along the flat bank. Depending on the time of year and water temp I used cranks, spinnerbaits, or Neds for bass. If you look across the river to the left, you will see a cove with docks. The spaces between the docks are prime Ned water. Look 90 degree to the left an see the little island as the channel bends to the left. That island point will always hold bass (mostly spots) and walleye. They may not bite, but they are always there. Just barely to the left of the ramp, the flat drops into a deep channel. Along that edge is an old, submerged rock wall. Both bass and walleye hang out on the wall. Out on the big flat in front of you, humps and bumps and gullies exist. Use you sonar and find them. Those will be where the fish are. Everything I have written is known to the regulars in that area. These are not secret holes. They are a starter for that place. Good luck and tight lines. Quillback, SRV1990, Bearplane04 and 4 others 6 1
Quillback Posted April 13 Posted April 13 You had a good day, Upper White has been tough this year. Had a buddy that fished up there yesterday and he mentioned that there were a lot of people out fishing. Bearplane04 1
Bill Babler Posted April 13 Posted April 13 SK ramp was fullest I’ve ever seen it. H.hwy. ramp packed to the point of parking along the entrance road. Was told there were 8 tournaments on the lake yesterday. Mudline from the Kings River came almost to Hobbs Hollow, but is fading. That time of the year. I will tell you they are starting to stage. YOU DON’T NEED LIVESCOPE. use your 2D on the bluff ends and transitions near spawning pockets and if you see them, and you will. Use that small swim bait. Depending on depth you can also use a jerker. I caught them really good on a floater last week. Best bite I’ve had on it in several years. In the immortal words of Bill Beck. “Elephants eat peanuts.” Caught on a 1/16 oz. Phat Fly. Quillback Posted April 13 Posted April 13 I keep forgetting about that float-n-fly. I have the floats and the flies; I just need to use them. Thanks for the reminder, Bill. snagged in outlet 3 1
