New to the forums

Hi fellow fishers, new to the forum. Was directed here by a member on the flyfishingforums.com, which I'm a member of. Moved to the the greater St. Louis area back in the summer of '24 from the northeastern corner of Maryland which had some really good fly fishing locations, and I've started looking for some good places to fly fish for trout, smallmouth bass, and panfish. Hope to meet others in the same area.

   This place is like one stop shopping. Lots of information but unlike shopping it's free to utilize. Many will share tidbits to get you started.

I am not a sophisticated fly fisherman, although I have been known to flail from time to time. I am still learning.

^ He said it correctly. You can get anything but money from the people here. Go through the new posts, check those people"s earlier posts,  and see the information that guides and competitive fishermen would pay to have. For trout on the White River, message Netboy.

Welcome to the forum. I went the opposite direction about 7 years ago, moving from Columbia MO to Easton MD. If you are willing to travel, there are great smallmouth and trout fishing opportunities throughout MO. Not sure how much time you spent fishing the wild brookies out in Western MD or streambred rainbows in PA, but you will find a number of challenging streambred rainbow trout streams, one of which is not far from STL, throughout the state. For stocker rainbows, MO stocks about 4 to 5X the number of rainbows througout the state than MD DNR does on an annual basis. There are many spring fed trout streams that offer year round trout fishing.
