Members Bassinboy14 Posted October 27 Members Posted October 27 With the cooler months approaching, I’ve been going through my jig making supplies, is there a shorter shank alternative to the 32798 Mustad hook?
Quillback Posted October 27 Posted October 27 I've been fishing Jewel Pee-Wee jigs lately and they come with a short shank sickle hook. Dunno the hook manufacturer. Dutch as made some similar, if he sees this he can give you more specific info. @Dutch cheesemaster, Bassinboy14 and Champ188 3
Members Toby Estes Posted October 27 Members Posted October 27 I’m not sure what jig you are making, but I make alot ovf the finesse ball head and arky style jig that both use that hook. I usually just drop down 1 size for a shorter shank (4/0 to 3/0). I also use the 32796 hook alot. You can check out Barlow Tackle for some comparison of different hooks. They actually have pictures comparing different sizes and manufacturers. Quillback, Bassinboy14 and Champ188 3

Toby, I use Barlow for some things myself but there's another place online for hooks where I've had great service and awesome prices. Usually much cheaper than Barlow. https://www.captainhookswarehouse.com/ Bassinboy14 1

Travis Swift Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Eagle claw make some jig hooks these days that end in BP and I believe they are far superior to the Mustad ones. I've been using them for a couple of years and love them. Bassinboy14 1
Dutch Posted October 31 Posted October 31 I don’t know the measurements for that hook or similar ones. If you look up your mold you might be able to find some specs on hooks that fit it. If it is a Do-It mold you might get some help on alternatives from them. https://barlowstackle.com/Mustad-32798NP-BN-Jig-Hooks-P446/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17335829997&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvJHIBhCgARIsAEQnWlBP_agFBaAMoBMm6BGy_pqHMY8EKYqk_1IDDGwt02kr2wBmXwfOo-MaApCZEALw_wcB At the bottom of the page are other hooks that are like yours. Maybe you can find a comparison chart somewhere. Bassinboy14 1
