Been itching to go lately but haven't had a calm, free, and reasonably warm day until now, although it was a little breezier than I prefer. Very few boats out, now is the time to go. Water temps were 45 or so. Real clear, and higher than I'd expect for this time of year. Crappie were where you'd typically find them, deep main lake structure, mouths of coves. Good size too, no short fish. Some whites mixed in with them, also good sized, I threw several of those back. I used #3 jigging raps and jigs today, nothing else. I also caught this literal spotted bass, never seen one like it. Probably between 3 and 4lbs. snagged in outlet 3, MOstreamer, Johnsfolly and 5 others 8 -Austin

I don't often keep them, but that was my thinking as well. They were also big enough to have some meat left after trimming, if they're less than 12", you don't get much. Maverickpro201 Posted December 22 Posted December 22 In Texas when we catch whites, hybrid or striper, and fry up. We dip them in yellow mustard, shake off most, then the batter, then fry them. You do not taste the mustard. But it does take out a lot of the fishy out. The mustard is just a binder for your batter. kind of like using mustard on ribs or brisket. Try it you will like it I am sure. I never, I repeat Never use it on Crappie or Bluegills
