Bill Babler Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Fished out of Eagle Rock today surface temps at 50 degrees. Parking lot full, boats everywhere. Started at 0700. All the deep fish gone for me. Had 19 bass with 7 small keepers, nothing deeper than 10’ 2 fish on a Berkley Finisher 10 on a 2.8” Keitech and the rest on A-rig. Fished till 11. Olliverson posted the shad went to 90’ plus and catching fish on them. Unfortunately there is no 90’ plus up the White but lots of gulls, diving on very few shad. All my fish came off cuts and 45 degree banks. Had 2 big crappie on the A-rig, released. Neighbor had 2 big walleye yesterday, both over 6 lbs. up the White. He released them. A-rig. Said they were right in the bank under 10’. Next week looks good. Dock-in-it, nomolites, Dewayne French and 3 others 6 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Quillback Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I was out there too, but down the river a ways from you. Fished the ned rig, fish were scattered and for the most part pretty shallow. Seemed like spring fishing. It was fun, but as you noted, lots of boats out there. A fat meanie that I caught, I bet the girth in longer than the length. Bill Babler Posted January 2 Author Posted January 2 Jeff, it does seem like Spring. Pretty much all I caught were Buck LM. SKINNY. When you caught one you caught several. I tried a jerkbait and they would swarm it and follow it but zero bites. My last 4 trips above the 86 bridge I have caught nothing but LM and crappie. Rumor has it they are spooning both bass and walleye in front of Leatherwood, but I have not gone up that far. There were probably 100 plus gulls in front of Devil’s Dive but I couldn’t catch any around them. Looks like it’s going to stay really warm thru next week. Good Luck.
