Little windier and they ran smaller.

IMG_20171221_162158_103.jpg

Managed to put 8 crappie and a decent yellow perch in the livewell but had to sort thru several smaller crappie to get the 8 keepers.  Also spent about an hour graphing fishing and vertical jigging a spoon but all's I could muster up about 20 spots biggest being 15 inches and shortest about 11.  Fun watching the jig on the Lowrance Hook5 and then then just blow up with fish all around it.

Crappie caught on soft plastic crappie jigs and minnows off brush pile in 16 to 20 fow .  Yellow perch and spots were all caught in 20 to 25 fow jigging a white and purple spoon about 5 ft off the bottom.  Water temps were 51 to 53.

I’ve been in the penalty box for a couple weeks now with a cracked block on the tracker jet. In the process of converting the duck machine into a hybrid one man crappie/walleye/duck rig. This is gonna be interesting....

Thanks for the report.  You’re keeping me on a mission!

Your welcome.  Finally seen a couple flocks of gaddies so it could finally be starting for us BS duckers ;).

Sorry to hear about the boat, was hoping it was going to be a quick fix for you have back on the water, maybe I should of kidnapped you and forced you to show me how to fish for Walters ;).

This is a pretty typical size. In graduate school as part of our lake research we were able to fish a private lake that does not allow fishing. We were catching perch up to 17" in length (I have actual photos, but not digital photos :)). They fought like smallmouth bass. It was awesome, but I got to weigh, measure, and pump the gut contents of each fish that we caught as part of our research. My betterhalf got a lot more enjoyment catching these fish than I did since as soon as I was done processing one fish she had another for me :(.

Ok first thing is there is a way Mr. Scientist to scan your photo and show us a trophy yellow perch. Second thing is now I have it figured why Mrs. Folly is younger and prettier than you are. YOU MARRIED YOUR STUDENT! Don't go telling us she was your classmate either :) .

There you go baiting me and then you hijack your own post. May your water stay in the liquid form, mine may not :).

Aggravator!     Have you caught your Missouri yellow perch yet? You know it does not count unless you catch it in it's native waters and bet you have that done already.

Actually hope the small water hardens up down here and forces them to big water but I don't think it will.

I now have perch envy.  17" is a beast.

Ok - no fancypants scanner, so took photo instead :P! Sorry JohnP we have hijacked your thread. I Blame Marty !

No - she was not one of my students. We went to different colleges except for the one semester that I took classes at her school and stayed in her dorm at an all girl college. That's a separate story.

I really am thinking it isn't even going to get hard water here that bad. I made a run this morning and all remaining birds have bugged out and are coming your way. Hopefully there will be something filling the void. A rather deep snowline would be nice thirty miles north of BilletHeadVille,
