11/18/18 crappie and bass.

It has been a while since the boat and I have been out together.

I decided to go for crappie, I got on the water about 7am got off around 5pm, it was getting windy by then.

I ended up taking 7 crappie home, depth 35ft.

The big bass was 5lb 13oz, I caught it in 25 ft of water on a flat near a channel with the others, I could see it on the graph, I was hoping for a walleye.

It was nice to get out.

Bonus...I ran into Mike Holland and his wife. I love their new boat !

A couple bass on a spoon, one on a drop shot minnow intended for a crappie.

I didn't mean to mislead.

A bass fishermen cruised by he said that it was slow, l said man you should throw a spoon, he said no way, so I thought, I might try my own advice it worked. I went back to crappie.

Dan, when you say drop shot minnows, were the crappie hanging towards the bottom. I have never used that for Crappie. Thanks

He doesn't know what he is missing for sure. I've had some cold weather trips where a spoon was the only thing I fished all day and absolutely loaded the boat. For some reason many bass fisherman are too proud to throw it. My goal when I go fishing is to put fish in the boat.......spoons are famous for doing just that. I ain't too proud.....I'd throw a vienna sausage if I thought it would catch fish......just sayin'.

Heard a lot about folks using hot dogs for catfish. Sure that those vienna's would work on cats 😁.

An old girlfriend of mine caught plenty of bass in Florida on hot dogs as well. So you may want to keep a tin or two in your tackle box😁.

A little off subject. But I go diving on occasion in a quarry in Mermett  Springs ILL. They have these massive albino catfish that will suck one hotdog after another right out of your hand. Kind of fun.

Wow neat !
