A Curious Pair on the Upper End

I went out at 5:30 this morning hoping for a top water bite. In the first 90 minutes I caught two and neither were keepers. I switched to Ned fishing and promptly caught this:

I put the flathead back. I went on to catch four bass with one a near keeper.

Then I began trolling for walleye. Based on information I was given, I started trolling a wiggle wart 25 feet down. In an hour I caught one small bass. However I had noticed many suspended bait balls 10 to 15 feet deep. I also saw fish suspended just below the bait if there was timber present.

I put on a Storm Smash Shad 6 in pearl and went looking for timber that topped out 10 to 15 feet down. I wound up at a community hole near Holiday Island. I let out 170 feet of PowerPro 10/2 braid to put the bait 15 feet down and trolled over the trees at 2 mph. I landed several bass and this 23 inch walleye.

I call that a fun morning.

I am with Vern on this one...no fish burgers and no fish tacos....just don't seem right t'all 

Just something unnatural about it....like that turducken thing 🤔

I recently purchased a pellet smoker with a sear box and now know how to reverse sear a steak.

That and the lunar landing are the two most amazing things to happen in my lifetime!

Although pizza on that danged smoker might be a close third..........  😃

Can't beat the smoked pizza on a pellet grill. Holly cow - fantastic.

This is way off the food sub-thread (but I like your idea there), but you should try some of the Smash Shads in the UV finishes.  The purple tiger and green UV version (can't remember the exact name of either) have been very good to me this year.

I may have to try your version of a fish burger tonight.  Fried crappie is getting boring...

Thank you, sir!  That, and the rest of the entry under that date is impressive. I can tell I'll have to up my game in cooking.  The burger recipe looks outstanding, and it will be on my list when the piscivore-vegetarian son visits next week.  

I'll have to look at the rest of the blog once I stop drooling...

Vernon,  I made the fish burgers a couple times and they are dang good.  Not a fan of spicy fruit things so I left it off.  Also fish tacos are fabulous.  If you can do a smoked pizza (never even thought of that) you can do the fish burgers.

Well, you might just suck me into trying this yet.  I ain't much on the fruity stuff either (although RPS makes it sound pretty dang good) but could "easily" work around that cause I'm good at leaving things out!

As for the smoker though I'm about convinced that that thing is fool proof.  I've only done about a half dozen different things so far but everything has been all time best.

And for me, that's saying a mouthful (pun intended!).

I am that way with my electric smoker, if it ain't fool for of its at "me proof"  I love fruit but there are some combinations I just don't like and spice/heat with sweet is one of them.
