  1. I had the opportunity to spend yesterday floating a small local flow with Amery and Chef of the sea. We floated some of the upper reaches of a small creek and didn't see another soul all day. The fishing was hot with Amery on the fly rod and me and Chef mostly on spinning rods ( a few for both of us on the fly). Wewere all about the same for numbers, which was a lot. Had a great tTim with some good dudes on my favorite flow.
  2. Just quit while you are behind
  3. How about people who post elitist crap? Can we complain about that?
  4. Wow, nice show of character

    Lower Elk 6/11

We took out at the mdc access. I love that stretch of river, but with that one exception the quality wasn't what I usually do. Never catch any true hogs but usually pick up a few over 14 with a big lm somewhere throughout the day. Always fun though!

    Lower Elk 6/11

Got to float the lower Elk Saturday with my dad, his first float of the year. The flow was perfect for this stretch, no dragging, only had to paddle to steer, and slow enough to fish without rushing. We caught a ton of fish mostly small brown ones with several drum, a kitty and a hybrid (my first) on a wtd bait. The highlight of the day was a 17" smalljaw! Got off the water at 5, which is impressively early if you know this stretch Normally I have to fight to get off by dark. Great day and my last full day float until my giant pregnant wife pops in July.
  7. Play golf or football if you dont want to get hit.
  8. Na, the lakes will be crazy for years and years to come. People love to gripe but they still go out, just look at how busy they all are and they just keep coming, year in and year out.
  9. Nope, but their property values have sky rocketed. If they find their current situation unpleasant, they are perfectly able to change their setting. I know how to fish for days without seeing a soul. Wanna relax on a quiet shore with nobody around? Do it. There are still plenty of places where it is possible. Fewer than 10, 20, 40 yrs ago? You bet! Still doable? Yup! If you find your quiet place on a popular place unpleasantly busy, sell it and find your quiet place. I pray for my pasture to become party cove. That's my ticket to a bigger chunk of a quiter place on God's great earth!
  10. Ya, terrible investment. Probably worth 10X or more what they paid for it back when it was a very poor area. Thwy Couldnt sell their terrible property and buy something else secluded and beautiful with the pennies their property is worth now.
  11. We hit Bee Bluff a couple times, but the majority Of our fishing was between powell and camp. Couldnt talk the 8 month pregnant wife into the trip to tilden.
  12. I had the opportunity to get away for the weekend with the family for the first time in quite a while. We stayed at a campground in Powell to avoid as much of the party as we could and had a blast! Beer was drank, pregnant wife survived, and the kiddos caught buckets of fish. My oldest, (5) caught 81. I know this because he is 5 and he counted every single stinking fish he caught . Little girl started a fever this morning so we packed it in a day early. Nothing beats being river trash!
  13. I think kick back on a gravel bar with a cooler full of cold beer and chillax. Fish between beers and let whatever happen. Just don't over think it.
  14. I went to a creek that I will refer to as Bad Beer Creek.... because it does make sense if you know where I was. I went to two different accesses, 1 was MDC, 1 was a low water bridge. Paddled my cuda up about a mile at my first stop and half that at my second. I caught plenty of fish, a few of which were solid, best was 16 ish. Couldn't buy a spook bite or crank bait bite so everything came on plastics.
  15. Better jobs suck, I used to have one. It's not worth being able to have the best if you don't have the time/energy to use said things. My crappy job keeps me poor but I sure do catch A LOT of fish with my available time off. My wife is like OP's, but I get in a lot of trouble
  16. Ya mudhole but golly their shipping cost is enough to make me angry.

    5/21 &22

    Wow, nice looking fish. Congrats
  18. Nice fish, Elk?
  19. Hard to float rivers in a big boat......... you will miss it after you sell it. Sounds like a good deal.
  20. Nope, look again......
  21. Getting 100 's on the rivers, actual rivers and creeks. The free flowing kind where u are not tied to a motor to go where you want.
  22. That's impressive. I have a hard time sitting on a bunch of goggle eye when I find them, and if I leave there will almost certainly not be any more to find farther down. Or if I don't want to keep any I'll catch 96 googly fish over 10 inches........ it's a rough life we live.
  23. First hole and next to last hole on my favorite float. You're welcome
  24. I have been on a couple goggle eye hunts this year, both VERY successful and I used the ned exclusively for both. My biggest problem when fishing the ned (or anything for that matter ) for goggle eye is that I can't get the brown bass looking fish things that live in creeks to stay off of them?
