  1. I have caught white bass after dark with a spoon but only because the dock had lights.
  2. Gotta agree with Nomo on this one. If you are using 40lb braid you need a heavy action rod. It would be more of a flipping and pitching setup though.
  3. If the line is digging into the spool then I would say it's a braid issue. Braid is terrible about digging in if you put too much pressure on it. You might fidget around with the brakes and drag settings before you make a decision. If that doesn't work try different kind of line (mono, flouro, copoly etc..) Good luck.
  4. I have Tatula Type R. I love this reel. I also love my Abu Garcia Rocket.
  5. The spot I'm fishing is basically a deep hole inside of a C shape. Points on each end and deep in the middle. The fish are corralling the bait inside that area. When they push bait to the top I throw top water. When they go back down I'll toss in a drop shot. If that dies down I hit the submerged points where the chunk rock drops to deep waterwith drop shot or jig. If the wind is blowing to that spot you can stay there all day. I'm beginning to hone in on using my sonar up front. I am seeing fish below and dropping straight down and catching a few that way. I just need to figure out split screen where I have one side zoomed in on right depth to see them coming to bite the bait more clearly.
  6. I'm 100 meg plus myself. It's great. They have Terabyte internet available with some carriers. That's over 1000 meg. That's nuts.
  7. I thought Quill had a record at first glance. I didn't know what a quillback was either. Thanks for sharing.
  8. I've been catching fish on drop shot at 20-30 feet at Beaver. I tried the bluff deal a little to no avail. All that were biting were perch. A lot of bait fish in Rocky Branch area. Top water bite has been awesome on WP and Ima walking bait. When tw bite slows you can toss a drop shot around in the same area and pick up a few.
  9. I've tried everything. She just doesn't have the desire. I like going without her most of the time but every now and then I wish she would go.
  10. I believe that is the bait that Christie was using at either Rayburn or Toledo Bend and did so well with.
  11. I have begged my wife to go with me and she won't do it. If I could just get her to go once I think she would love it. She hates getting up early on the weekends.
  12. Six shows in six consecutive weeks. Starting this week.
  13. I believe 2-3 pm. There are several episodes. I'll check to verify.
  14. A buddy of mine has a car lot with a wash bay and I spray the boat down first to soften it up a bit. Then I go back and spray purple degreaser. Let that soak for a few minutes then scrub it with a brush. Rinse it off and it should be gone. If that doesn't work you might need a stronger chemical or a wax with some compound to get that out.
  15. Anyone else watch this? It is a lot higher budget production and an introduction into mainstream tv. It's in HD and they are explaining the rules as if it was the first time aired. The fishermen themselves are even acting different than normal. Interesting watch.
  16. Get to know your drop shot. Look for chunk rock points and random rock piles on google earth. They should be visible on the map but under water right now. Jig will work too. Good luck. Years of banging my head against the wall and only fishing shallow. I'm finally starting to listen to what these more experienced fishermen ( and Donna) have to say. Most of us are putting our boat on top of these fish instead of backing off and working deep. Whole new world for me.
  17. I used to fish out of backs of boats as well. The best tackle box I used was a Shimano back pack. Frees up both hands to carry rods and my food and drinks. One of the best things you can buy is those rod straps at BPS. Keeps all your rods together when you are carrying them. Bout 5 dollars and worth their weight in gold.
  18. After looking at final weigh in totals I finished 20th out of 80. Better than I thought.
  19. Fished the Elite tournament yesterday and had 5 fish for 9.10 which didn't come close to winning but I caught a ton of fish yesterday. Top water didn't work early but fluke bite was great. After that went to a drop shot and caught a bunch. After I filled my limit I switched to a jig to cull out my limit. Just couldn't get that kicker. All fish were caught close or on points. Caught 2 walleye as well. One was 18 inches and the other was probably 22-23 inches at 3 plus pounds (my measuring board only goes to 18inches). I weighed in 2 Lm,2 KY and 1 Smallie. It was nice to catch some numbers and a decent sack.
  20. Thought I would share.
  21. You got some serious issues Champ. Ha. Love it.
  22. Never getting hung up and not having to re tie baits is probably a rarity and I'm sure considered a good day in your profession. Thanks for the info as usual.
  23. Went to Hook Line and Sinker and they were sold out of Cinnamon/Purple twin tails. I have a feeling Champ made a visit before I got there😀. I got the next closest thing which is green pumpkin/purple and orange flake. They are almost identical. Grabbed some Pb/j skirts and jigs as well.
  24. I tore up prespawners a few years ago with one rigged with a zoom baby lizard on the clear end of Beaver.
  25. Owner makes pre-made Jika rigs. With or without tungsten. They aren't cheap by any means. They do seem to be durable though.
