  1. If I could only fish one week out of the year, it would be the first week of May. If you;re looking for numbers it can't be beat! Now if I was strictly hog hunting, it would be first week of April.
  2. 46.3 neat pt. 13. We fished from 2 to 4 and caught 6 shorts and 1 legal. White spoon in 20 ft. of water was the best deal.Nothing to brag about, but for mid Jan, I'll take it.
  3. I sent you a Private message.
  4. Amen! Reminds me of the old days when you do things that make sense.
  5. Good info! It appears that there is not a wrong way to fish it.
  6. I heard from browning collector that both hideaway and cape fair marina are open for credit cards only. I contacted Scott Phelps today and he gave me the following info: Yes Ken. The pumps are on 7 days a week from 10am till 4pm at both marinas. Credit card only. Exception: last two days the pumps were off due to wind sometimes ice and snow conditions will force us to turn the pumps off as well.
  7. He who dies with the most sticks win!
  8. Great info! I normally use ethanol free regular from the local Marinas. In the offseason I really prefer to use the ethanol free premium, if I can't get the regular.
  9. Very GOOD info! Thank You!
  10. Does anyone know where I can buy some ethanol free gas. I live on Y highway near Reeds Spring. The Y store has plenty, but their pump is broken and have no idea when it will be repaired. Is there anywhere between here and Springfield that might have some good fuel? Thank You!
  11. Thanks for the info, Dan. I made the trip today for some service work. I had them change the impeller, lower unit grease and a few other small items. They were $50. cheaper than anyone on this end of the lake. Nice folks and very please with the work. They made the repairs while I took Mona to lunch. You can't beat that for service!
  12. Great report! They are some good looking fish!
  13. 9.1 pre fish kill on a jig/pig in early April near pt. 5. 8.9 post fish kill on a topwater near KC in early May. I totally agree with Babler, our lm numbers are still way down since the glory years. I've only caught one decent lm shallow, during the spawn, just a tad over 6 lbs. The other few lm over 4 have came in 20 ft or more. I used to live in KC and normally fished from Baxter to the dam. I had high hopes when I moved to the mid James for lm, but I think the numbers of quality fish is actually better in the mid lake area. Everyone knows the spots and sm fishing is far superior from KC to the dam.
  14. Incredible picture! We are so blessed to live in this beautiful part of the world!
  15. Thank You Dave! For some reason my android phone refuses to allow me to upload a picture. It's usually not a problem, as I rarely have a fish big enough to post a picture. I wanted to share this beautiful sunset taken on 12-21-2016 from the deck of my home. We are located close to pt. 13 and get an opportunity to see some amazing sunsets. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May God bless you richly in 2017.
  16. I have become a braid fanatic and yes I do throw a jerkbait. I prefer to throw 20 pound braid with an 8-pound fluorocarbon leader and tie the improved Albright knot so I can make the leader as long as I choose and it goes Through The eyes of my rod. Works great unless you have the micro eyes on your rod then it has some interference issues.
  17. The chart shows that it was 1981. I guess I've been telling a story all these years.
  18. April, 1985 the lake was 22 ft low. I remember it well as I caught my personal best on the Rock at 9 lbs 1 oz.
  19. Keep one thing in mind....................God has put us all on this earth for x number of days! For every day that you fish, you will live one week longer. Plus the cost of living on the Bull and the Rock is much cheaper than Bella Vista. I was blessed to have the opportunity to retire at age 51 and it was the best decision that I've ever made. Been retired for almost 20 years. and loving ever minute of it.
  20. Great job guys!! You are both way tougher than OLD Spoony!
  21. Donna and Champ are my new heros! I just can't get motivated enough to fish these conditions. I guess it's part of getting old. Glad you made it home safely
  22. Cody Meyer catches a 10.80 Spot!
  23. I believe the name I heard was Pet Dial. Does anyone know Pat? Just curious if it was two anglers and how many fish limit. I can't imagine that it would be a six fish limit.
  24. Just heard a rumor at lunch today that someone had a 38 lb sack at a local club outing. Does anyone have any info on this? Rumor was they were vertical fishing with jigs.
  25. You fished Buzzard without my permission! Shame, shame, shame! To make it even worse you didn;t stop in to say hi. Shame on you both. I had hot coffee/hot chocolate by the fireplace all ready for you. Oh by the way I've sore mouthed all the fish in this area, my advice would be aunts creek. Got that from a pretty reliable source.
