  1. Great report and pics!!! They have been eating good for sure! Thanks for sharing!
  2. Wonderful news!! It's hard to keep a good man down. I think lots of prayer helped too.
  3. Dave for President!!!!!!!! Yes he is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Well done Dave!!! That's the beauty of the little rig, if you can cast a rod, you can catch fish. I'm living proof that talent is not required, only a little patience.
  5. Great input from everyone!!! I would say the boys covered almost all the bases for you. The only thing I would add is the splitshot rig with a green pumpkin fish doctor from Zoom. Lots of bass have been fooled by the little doctor..........almost as good as the ned rig. Someone did mention the redfin, but I strongly recommend you have a couple in your box. If you need help to modify them, check this forum, and you will find a host of info. Good luck.
  6. Good advice on Taneycomo!! That time of year, and the fact it's a family vacation, it work be a good fit.
  7. Great job Bo!!! Thanks for sharing! That's what makes this such a successful site. You not only shared your knowledge, but also showed screen shots and various methods to catch deep fish. Keep working on a spoon that is weedless and has a better hook up ratio and you will have a winner.
  8. Welcome to the forum, Scott. You can gain a wealth of information on this site. If you do a search for Dam area or Long Creek, you'll find several articles that will guide you in the right direction. You have the best of both worlds, SM near the Dam and good LM in Long Creek. Only negative thing I can think of would be dealing with boat traffic during the summer. you will learn real quick that the best fishing on this pond, is normally from dawn until 10 A.M. or night fishing.
  9. Great report and pics. You have a couple of good looking boys and are very blessed that they enjoy the great sport of fishing. You will have many wonderful memories with them on the water. Than some day, Grandkids come along, and they will really bring joy into your life. You can spoil them every minute and than send them home. I've always said that Grandkids are Gods gift to us for raising our children.
  10. Great report!!! I give you both lots of credit to brave the elements yesterday. It looks like today will be better with temps near 50 and the wind out of the South. Thank you Donna for sharing your recipe for the hand cream. I'm always looking for something new for my eczema as all products seem to help for a short period of time. It's like it gets immune to anything I have tried. Merry Christmas to everyone and a Blessed New Year!
  11. You and Champ are my new hero's!!!!!! How are your hands doing?
  12. Donna, try super glue for the splits. I use it all the time when my eczema on my hands gets out of control. No sting and quits hurting immediately. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the wonderful people on OAF.
  13. My new hero!!!! My goodness, at 90, and you're still fishing. My advice would be to spend your money on the BB boys (that is Bill Babler and Bill Beck) sometime in April. That would be the best time to land a real lunker and would be money well spent. Now, if you and your son just want to go fishing, I would be honored to take you at no charge (keep in mind that I'm not a guide). If I can be of service to you, just shoot me a pm and we'll go fishing. You and your family have a wonderful Christmas and God bless you all.
  14. Sorry for your loss. It's a shame that you have to lock your car, just to run in to a convenient store for a couple of minutes. It just shows us what our society has become, so many people have no morals or shame.
  15. I only fished for a hour yesterday afternoon and was rewarded with a pretty decent spoon fish (5.3 lbs and my 2nd largest of the year). I did offer to take my bride with me, but she declined, telling me that I haven't been a very good guide lately. I warned her that every time she doesn't go along, I usually catch fish. I only managed 1 crappie, 1 whitebass, and the 5.3 lb LM, but for 1 hour of fishing I was very happy. The LM came on a white spoon vertical jigging in 25 feet of water on the first drop. I was fishing a flat point close to the main channel. Now that will get you pumped up. I actually saw a few whites chasing shad and managed to catch one 16 incher before they went back down. That's the beauty of living on the water (I feel sooooo blessed to live on this beautiful lake) you can be on the water and fishing in minutes. Not very skilled taking a selfie.
  16. That Ned rig will catch them all!!!
  17. Dave, I never thought you'de convert Babler or myself to the lil varmit. Now if you convert Champ and Donna, I'll really be impressed. Who's next, KVD????
  18. Thanks for the report! Good luck on the redfish. Please give us a report on them when you get back. Do they catch them on topwaters this time of year.
  19. Welcome back Dave!! It's been a slow summer and fall for me. I've tried fishing the Ned out to about 20 ft. with very little success, just a few small fish. It was nothing like this Spring, when the little varmit was on fire. It gave me my personal best for the year at just over 6 lbs, so you have made a believer out of me. Now that football season is over, are you able to make me some jigs? I've had good luck bending the barb down. It just makes hook removal so much easier and you give away less jigs.
  20. That's great news! Stacey is a great guy, and with our thoughts and prayers, I'm sure he can whip this cancer. I'm happy to see that he made the Bass fishing hall of fame. Go Stacey!!!!!!
  21. Great detailed report! Glad you guys caught some nice fish and had a good time. I'm originally from Kimberling City and love that section of water. I now live up the James and the fishing is a lot tougher for me and I miss all the SM that I used to catch in that clear water. Thank God for all the launches on the Lake so I can get my fix now and than.
  22. Great stuff Phil! What one thing did you learn from this report. For me, it was the lack of big LM in the James River. The report made me feel a little better about my fishing skills. I lived jn KC for many years and fished mostly from Baxter to the Dam and for me to catch quality Bass, I still have to return to those waters. I wish they would have included whitebass in their report, as they have really eluded me this year.
  23. Good info Champ! I live on the James near pt. 13 and try to get out about three times a week. I'm building our own house or it would be a lot more. I have had some success with war eagle spinnerbaits as well as buzzbaits lately. I just can't find any big fish.............nothing over 3 lbs since May. It just makes me wonder were the big fish have gone. I also use to catch a few whitebass to eat on the James................not this year..............I have to go down to the White to find any whitebass. Go figure!!
  24. Thanks for all the input. I love the room on the front deck that a butt seat provides. I may have to try some of the new products that are available. I didn't know about the tilt feature. My seat is the factory seat back in 2000 and is hard as a rock.
  25. Does anyone know where I can buy a comfortable butt seat? I'm 6'4" and 240 lbs and 68 years of age. I can't stand like the young boys, but like to sit or lean on a butt seat. I have a 2000 ranger 462 and bought the butt seat, but rarely use it as it's so uncomfortable. I don't have a problem buying a new seat if I can find one that will work. Thanks in advance, as I know someone on this great forum will have the answer.
