  1. Beautiful..... well done gentlemen...
  2. True that...... I love jiggin' a spoon, and the A-rig is a ball for me to throw just because of the novelty of it, and the possibility of catching multiple fish on one cast. Its all fun and I want to do it all...
  3. I agree 100% Champ..... We always go for the shallow... and "inbetween" bite first. And, we seem to always find a few bass that want to play. But...... if you can find them clustered up deep and get them fired up, you can catch multiple fish sitting in one spot and its a ball. I'm looking for the deep fish just because I thinks its cool to catch them that deep. Last trip we caught some shallow on the ned rig and a jerk bait. Maybe 5-10' deep. But we also caught some 50-60' deep on an ice jig and a jigging spoon. I'm greedy.... I want it all.
  4. Wow..... great catching Bill. Maybe its just the latest and greatest technology on the newest fish finders, we can see alot better down there than we used to. .... but it seems to me we are catching them deeper every year. Used to, I thought 40' was deep. Now it seems like you have to go to 60 or 70' to get a consistant bite going. You can catch a few scattered fish in the 35-50 foot range but the bigger and more active schools are much deeper..... What's your take?
  5. Well done blue collar...... not bad for a couple ol' country boys....
  6. Hey man..... try "Area 71" on Hwy YY. Its half way to Campbell Point. They serve a great breakfast. Home made sausage or bacon and eggs.... bicuits and gravy. It looks like a gas station, because it is, but they do make a great breakfast...
  7. Ha ha..... I fished with zebco 33's for years. My buddies with bait casters would make fun of me until I out fished 'em. Got my first bait caster in '78. All I needed was a jig and a spook.... Had a little 2 tray tackle box......Love every minute on the water.....It has been a ball learning this game every step of the way. New rods made for specific techniques, new reels, new baits....etc. What a fun hobby....
  8. well done gentlemen..... We are heading down in the morning...
  9. I'll try it next time Merc..... Thanks for the pointers..
  10. Gary and I were missing Table Rock and missing the Shell Knob Pizza Hut for several weeks. Late summer into mid-fall has been awesome at Stockton but the Rock was calling us big time. I picked him up at 5:30am and we headed that way. We launched right at 7am at Campbell Point. It was cloudy, low 50's, and dead calm. We like to chase the shallow water bite first so we did that for a few hours. We caught one here and there but nothing to brag about. The fish were scattered and chasing shad WAY back in some of the creeks. Even though the water temp was in the low to mid 50's the fish were busting shad on top pretty regularly. I managed to catch a few on a jerk bait but the schoolers were hard to keep up with. Finally about 2pm I decided to see if we could get some of the deep fish to bite. Everywhere we had been all morning and everywhere we went later on in the afternoon we were charting deep fish but couldn't get them to bite. Finally about 2:30 or 3 we found a school that was ready to play and caught several 12-14" kentuckies in short order. At 4:30 we ran to our spot we usually hit last and it paid off again. We caught a few nice chunky bass right at the end of the day and then headed toward the Pizza Hut...... Dang it. Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for the off season. Man, we had been looking forward to it all day. I may actually call ahead next time.....
  11. Love it..... can't wait to get down there next week...
  12. Awesome.....I'm still a week out before I can go again..... ouch!
  13. Excellent L2S.... I had to work. Glad you were able to get after them...
  14. nice..
  15. This is exciting news. I have heard the same thing from several sources now. I LOVE the deep spoon bite..... Can't wait to get back down to the Rock now. (Stockton has been pretty fun though....)
  16. We have been planning for a Fall camping and fishing trip for the men in my Sunday School class since May. Finally the day comes around and Missouri weather kicks our butt again. Wednesday evening that cold front plowed thru and the temps dropped rapidly. By the time we had the camper set up at Mutton Creek sleet was peppering down on top of it. We came back Thursday morning and set up the rest of camp in anticipation of 15-18 guys coming up to camp and fish. The cold weather prediction however caused several guys to chicken out. We wound up with with only 6 camping Thursday night and 8 on Friday. We had 10 for the fish fry on Friday night but had enough fish for 30..... To say the fish were biting good would be an understatement. We had multiple limits of white bass come in every day. Everybody else slept in heated campers. I was the only one that got to experience 26* and 28* nights in a nylon tent. It was quite the adventure........Food, fun, and fellowship. The evenings around the camp fire were awesome...... We had a ball.
  17. It WAS cold. But not cold enough to scare us off. We persevered and was rewarded with a tremendous fishing trip and awesome fish fry.... It was really a blast. We have had to battle less than ideal conditions several times on these outings. Dealing with adversity just adds to the adventure. Can't wait until our spring trip now....

  19. Champ.... are you slow rolling or burnin' it....?
  20. 10-4 on that..... We love every single bite we get. Big, small, or in between..... If everything goes according to plan we are having a big fish fry on Friday night if you want to join us. We'll be in the north west camp ground at Mutton Creek. That goes for any of you other Ozark Anglers that want to join us too. Just bring your days catch with you. I'll have a filet station set up about dark thirty..... The men in my Sunday School class get together and camp and fish twice a year. This is our 9th year in a row.
