  1. It's dropping a few inches a day.. Sucks
  2. I most def would have left that little tramp alone. I would love to catch more meanies. That's funny! My obsession precedes me. Enjoy the rest of your time at TR. I'll send word from 10K.
  3. I really prefer the prespawn to the actual bumping and grinding fish. They don't bite as well when they are actually getting busy. I want the females looking for the pre game meal or enjoying a post coital snack.
  4. That's fantastic!
  5. That's a bunch of chunky fish. Maybe not legal keepers, but a lot of fun. Glad you got out.
  6. It's crazy how good they are. I'm happy to hear of your success. It just gets better and better the more often you fish them.
  7. I certainly agree they don't pull like a smallie, but they let you know they aren't happy.
  8. I keep reading that, but I don't get it. Drop on down to Bull and pull on a 26 incher for a while and honestly try to drop that wet sock line.
  9. I HAD a HP 180 with a Yammy 130. The motor self destructed and multiple opinions came back with same repair needs an $4000 dollar estimate. I sold the motor for parts and got some money for the boat. I GPS'ed 54 MPH with two guys and full load. It very happily ran mid 40's at 4500 RPMs which is what I mostly ran. I could turn around in a really tight turn at a high rate of speed. It was crazy. I'm in a Bass Cat Cougar with a Pro XS 250 HP now. I really haven't tweaked the set up and I can get 72 MPH on GPS but it gets loose. 70 MPH is rock solid. Low 50's at 4500 RPM. Really good on gas as long as I don't get goofy. I'm not burning a lot more than I did with the G3.
  10. It's nice to tow the Aluminum down the road, but glass just doesn't get blown around the wat a metal boat does. I also felt like my aluminum boat didn't punch thru waves so much as want to ramp off of them. It is fair to say that I can comfortably run stuff in the BassCat at 65 MPH that weren't gonna be fun at much speed in my G3. Having said that, I loved my G3 and have so many fun time in it. I caught a ton of fish all over the place. Great boat. The Bear trailer really sucked, but the boat was first rate.
  11. I'll add some photos soon. I'm at 22 species for the year. I should easily pass last year's 28 species since I made the salty trip and got a quick five species down there. i got a Green Sunfish day before yesterday. No photo on him. I'm get a pretty one soon and take a photo of it instead. Last six species. Drum, Yellow Bass, Black Crappie, Channel Cat, Long Ear Sunfish, and Green Sunfish.
  12. I had a HP180 with a Yammy 130 HP. I bet you boat fishes very well. Good on you for getting you Dad out on the water. You're both better off for having done so.
  13. See, another great guy in a BassCat. Champ ought to run a BassCat Puma or Cougar.
  14. I'm a bass fisherman by way of birth, I CAN NOT use 2 lb line. I break off when I think about setting the hook, but your skill set may be lots better. I use 6 lb on the White River and usually catch the fool out of them and I rarely will use 4lb That wimpy stuff would not be required on the White River below BSL, but Taneycomo is a different animal. Phil is THE MAN on Taney (and pretty darn good everywhere else), I would at least try what he recommended. .. I would likely do the 4 lb in a P Line CX Premium or Maxima or Berkley 100% fluro on Taney IF they are not running water. When they run water, it's game on. The trout are full on stupid. You can use 6 lb line and lean on them a little bit. It is more challenging when there is minimal flow. You can sight fish individual trout and make a jig flare up off the bottom as they approach it and catch em. Been there and done that.
  15. PTI : tie the 2 lb onto the 4 lb with a surgeons knot. easy , easy knot. Even a bass fisherman can do it. tie a cinch knot to the bend of the hook on the trout magnet You're gonna have a lot of fun with 2 lb line.
  16. Dave loves PB&J like Fat kids love doughnuts. I struggle with it, but I will throw PBJ when its cloudy. I hate the Coppertreuse color, but the spots in the stained water clearly preferred it Wednesday. I'm more likely to throw Dirt or GP or CC.
  17. Lol, you're too much Man.
  18. You're killing me.
  19. that almost looks like Canada Craw sticking out of that fishes mouth.
  20. That's my boys right there.mi just knew y'all would have a good day.
  21. Jealous
  22. It rained on my butt half the day yesterday and was very cloudy for most of the rest of it AND YOU have the audacity to post a picture of you wearing sun gloves. That's low man, real low.
  23. I was inbetween Pontiac and Oakland yesterday and seeing 12 foot down pretty easily. With more sunlight, who knows.
  24. 2008 was 696'. It's amazing how good the fishing was when it seems like the fish would have just spread out and been uncatchable.
  25. Main lake is 8 - 12 foot visibility in lots of areas though.
