  1. seriously Bret, you've got to expand that vocabulary. Learn more superlatives!
  2. That's crazy BIG. I doubt that was taken w/o the help of a guide and natural bait, but we'll see.
  3. Any deets?

It looks a little like a lot of things, but not necessarily a lot like anything. If it has the right profile and you present it in the correct areas, its gonna get eaten.
  5. Buying more gear just gets you further in debt and you fishing stuff more cluttered, but I seem to do it anyways,.
  6. I did commit to fishing a lot of RR. I bought about 100 heads and tied about half of them up with chenile and maribou. It hurts a lot less when you lose one and I get to do custom colors, but somewhere along the way I haven't been throwing them as much. I think I was fishing a lot more when I was working week on/ week off, but maybe not. Hard to fish all the ways I want to fish given my current time constraints.
  7. Hmmm, I wonder how long 1000 road runner heads would last me.
  8. I would expect it to be frreaking insane. I'd love to throw it at the oversized Redears and Crappie in those western lakes. I'm not down with the Shadz at all.
  9. How does the Ned do in AZ?
  10. I'm interested in obtaining some Rapala Subwalk 7's. I'm not locked on any one color. If you have some you'd be willing to sell or trade Please let me know. I don't need nor want a crazy amount of them. I got one late last year. I had some success on it, but I didn't get to use it much. I'd like to have an additional color or a back up if I lost the one I have. Thanks

Alledgedly, the line sold as leader material is much more consistent in diameter and therefore better quality than the same line in a larger spool.
  12. Well, when I have used it with success in creeks, it is anything BUT tedious. I love watching the float go down slowly and sweeping into them. LOVE IT! Slowly working a cast for 5-10 minutes for a couple of hours without a bite is indeed a drag. Especially when I feel like I can pry their mouth open with a Ned rig.
  13. They have NOT for me BUT, I am not fishing where they are. I have tried it out of Tucker which is not too too far away and I did not get bit. I did not fish it all day, but I did fish it for hours.
  14. I assume JP was talking about keeping eating walleye. Not knowing what regs applied to the walleye that were never intended to be in the White gave me some pause as well. For better or worse, the White River has walleye now. I assume that the fish will find a way to survive and find a way to spawn.
  15. in 2008 not too long after they opened the spillways, we caught four walleye, On jerkbaits and Zig JIgs, over the course of a few hours. I released each one thinking there was no way I would catch another. We also caught White Bass, LMB, and saw crappie in a shallow protected area. Those walleye are still there and are still eating. Not knowing any better, I would believe that a jerkbait fished at night during the summer when the water was off has a good shot at catching a walleye. In is interesting (and frustrating) how different water levels are better for some areas and less good for others. 5000-10,000 CFS is great immediately below the dam. In reduced the number of small fish that you catch and makes the larger trout eat more often. They are often beasts in that fast water. The worse the weather the better the fishing if for no other reason, it keeps the number of boats to a reasonable level. It can get to be a zoo there at times and 15-30 boats constantly buzzing over the top of the fish starts to shut them down regardless of flow rate. I'm been there and seen it happen. You will lose some fish with the barbless jigs, but it is legally required in some areas and a good idea all up and down the river. You can release them so much quicker which can mean dry hands for you on a COLD day and it has to be easier n the fish as well. Less time spent releasing a fish = more time with your jig in the water = more fish caught. YES, it sucks when a big trout gets down current and wallows on the surface until the hook comes out. Suck it up and better luck next time. A barbless hook also comes out of you a lot easier. Ask me how I know. Sounds like a Great trip. You are crazy to fish in < 10 degree temps. Screw that. I'm not man enough for that crap.
  16. Also Venom lures makes a 3 inch Mad Tom. It looks like most of the Case Lures stuff in now Ebay only. I have several bags that I would part with. Hint HInt.
  17. Jewel Lures marketed a soft plastic sculpin that would work. Case Lures had a Mad Tom. Poor Boy Lures has a hand pour Goby that would work. I think any of the various soft plastic beavers would work just fine. You only need to match the profile and the movement on or near bottom.
  18. Man, they shouldn't have said " Hi, I'm Chucky. Wanna play?" so often. Poor little guys.
  19. BFT, I have a 2002 Supreme. It is a 42 inch wide with a little tunnel for the Merc 20 jet I have. I can't complain. It's been an amazing boat for me. It's white (ish) with a red stripe. Pretty heavy scum line at this point. I need to clean her up if and when it gets warm. I will go larger with the next boat looking for a little increased stability and a little more speed.
  20. I need to fish with somebody that loves to take photos and is good at it.

  24. The LMB live in every nook and cranny they can find ie every little strream that holds water that runs into the White. Water is warmer in the White itself during the winter than their "home" creek. It is not unusual to find them just outside those creeks and streams this time of year. I catch a few every year, but I'm on the White a lot so...
  25. . Fish were really colored up.
