  1. Thanks Eric!
  2. I'm not a wizard of the search function on this forum, but if you can make it work, there are hours worth of threads discussing the NED that are waiting for you to read. I'm not sure that everyone is going to re-hash what we've posted before. You need light line you need Loc tire gel glue. you need to fish elaztech plastics you need good jig heads You need the right spinning rod you need to get used to catching fish, a lot of fish
  3. I would keep that location to yourself.
  4. Bull Shoals has a smallmouth bass problem. So do I.
  5. I've tried dragging the Gulp 3 inch minnows around hoping for more walleye. I just catch smallies.
  6. I've caught multiple walleye on the Ned just fishing it like I would for bass. If you wanted to swim something, I would swim something else I think.
  7. That is a very good point Ollie makes. It is a long haul for me and I pass lots better options. I don't mean to be a hater. I had some great trips there, but the last couple weren't near as good. It is beautiful, but some of the shuttles can be FROM HELL. Several closer options with better fishing and better shuttles. Early trips are an option, but it takes a long time to grow a 15 incher. A lot longer to grow than to fillet.
  8. I had some really good trips on it in the past. I feel like its getting loved to death. Last multiday trip we made, we had great conditions and only caught small fish and not a huge amount of those. The take out was a complete cluster of locals bathing , 4 wheeling, and doing goodness knows what else in the water. I'm done with it ; Knock yourself out.
  9. I need some non felt boots. I really wondered about running the boat up and wading.
  10. Dewayne, you'll enjoy seeing thousands of zebra mussels high and dry. You might not enjoy the mystery breakoffs. I had two more Ned rigs lost to zebra mussels yesterday.
  11. Good for you Pete.
  12. Wind is 3 MPH today. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  13. I made a couple of interesting runs to get to some docks with depth. They did not like the jigs or Neds that I threw at them. One of the spots I was really hopeful about. It may have been that some of the docks were swinging back and forth so violently that the fish bailed on them.
  14. That's like telling a stoner he needs to build a greenhouse. How does that help me? I'll end up with 100 rods instead of 50. You need to help me sell half of what I own.
  15. Good for you man! I threw a jerk bait a bunch, and never got a bump. Was there any pattern to your bites? If I had gotten a bite, I would have repeated what I was doing when I got bit. I had a mid lake itch that I felt like needed scratching. It will get better, but it will be a little while before I do that again.
  16. 30,000 CFS and 35 MPH both equal total frustration. Adding them together ups my chance at dying while catching next to nothing. The trout will get their's.
  17. It was ridiculous. I really should have stayed home and gotten some things done. My trip was ill advised at best.
  18. Desire to go fishing overrode common sense. Silly amounts of wind today. Bull was a rough as I've ever seen it. I have gotten better behind the wheel of my Bass Cat though. It was a bumpy ride, but I stayed on top of them coming and going. Troughs are the worst. Only went completely airborne a handful of times. water temps were roughly 44 degrees. My two Humminbirds were not in agreement. I'll take an old school trout stream thermometer and adjust the units to that if possible (Griz?). Wind had stirred the lake up a tad. In some areas I had 5 foot visibility in other areas I had about 2 foot. I had too much wind almost everywhere I wanted to fish. I'm not great at fishing in White caps ever, but especially when the water is low 40's. I fished where I could using a rig, football jig, jerk bait, and Ned rig. With the lake falling a foot a day, I didn't run way to the backs of stuff. Maybe I should have. I could hardly have done worse. To the best of my knowledge, I had one bite today. I was fortunate enough to hook and land that lone fish. Pretty decent Spotted Bass. I sure was happy to catch her. Fat little thing. I bought a Humminbird 688 CI HD for up front when Cabelas had them a good sale price. It is slow to acquire GPS satellites, but I have GPS functionally up front again. And an accurate water temp, and no more interference when Imuse the TM. Woot! I launched at Diamond City on the ramp into West Sugarloaf. I got the boat off the trailer without all four truck tires in the water, but my goretex boots came in handy. Lake level was 665.40. Much better at 665 and a smudge when I put the boat back on the trailer. Main ramp that launches closer to the marina is still flooded. Looks like it's close to being usable ; I would guess 663 or so it comes back into play. I stunk it up today. I'll be pretty mad at them next time I get to go.

The lake level will be there at this rate by Saturday.
  20. Pretty docile when they are cold. Pool little thing was just trying to warm up a little.

    Xcalibur is done

Going way, way, way back Cotton Cordell had the lipless crankbait "The Spot". Guys figured out that the ones with a loose ballast weight in the head caught fish a lot better than the silent ones. One big chunk of lead thunked as the bait vibrated. Guys would test them out at the store and not buy the quiet ones. The company changed the bait to make them all loose. I used a lot of various Spots in my day and still carry them in my tackle box. There was a niche market for big profile 1 oz Spots. They never caught on Nation wide, but I think guys with using them in Alabama ledge fishing. Guys would check old tackle stores looking for them. Bacons in Shreveport has some old, old unpainted 1oz Spot blanks unless someone bought them all. The current bait companies saw that and brought 1 oz baits back. I've caught a lot of fish on various brand lipless baits. Spots, Rattle Traps, and others. Do not believe for a minute that the Rattle Trap won't still catch big pre spawn LMB in grass. I've caught too many quality fish to be told the higher pitch is without value. The one knocker might be another good option to throw, but it ain't the only option.
  22. You are often the bearer of good news. That's Awesome!
