  1. My Man Bret has figured out how to take decent fish pics. I need to learn from him. I’m glad you got out. I did not.
  2. I don’t know hw you stay sane. I fish about 80 days a year and whine on about 285 days that I should be fishing that day.
  3. God Bless You stinger160! I wish you the Best possible outcome and a minimum amount of discomfort and difficulty. Get Well and get back down here. I’d be glad to take you fishing again.
  4. Well, I guess so, but I might or might not fish The White that much in 2019. I adopted a distraction last Friday.
  5. I haven’t really thought about it a ton. I have plans for a Spring Trip with cajunangler in April or May , a trip to Langara in July, an extended trip with Johns Folly in October, At least two overnight float trips, and hopefully I get that trip to Venice in as well. How about > 3000 fish , > 1000 trout, fish in 7 states, 10 new “life time” species caught?
  6. Define “lunker” Trout ?
  7. March schedule is not out yet. IF at all possible I will attend. Heck, I might even stay at Riley’s, but I won’t know for a little bit.
  8. We will need to lock in dates with Miles.
  9. I very impressed with the jet boats popular on the Current River. Lots of new and used options out there. Top Waters, Shanees, and Supremes are great too. It depends on what you want.
  10. Gee a Whiz Gavin, I wish you would try it on a non critical trip first. I love it, but I’d hate for you to spool up and hate it.
  11. It looks like I work 22/23/24
  12. I’m no board IF work allows. Are we doing 2/3?
  13. I don’t remember having any problems with it freezing to itself on the spool. I guess it might, but it didn’t last Saturday or Sunday morning. I try not to go when it’s less than 20 degrees unless somebody Asks me to go.
  14. They come and go all the time.
  15. I like having a weak link to break when I have too and I don’t want to burn through braid or nano when doing lure changes.
  16. Gavin, I was using Power Pro 4/15 (I think-it’s been a little while) and had more issues with getting loose line coming off the spool than any issue with Nanofil. Yes, you get twist with Nanofil and with braid, but neither has the “body” of mono or co-poly to cause the tangle issues. The twist in nano is usually just the last couple of feet and you can get most of it out by pulling the nano thru your fingers I liked the no stretch easy strike detection and hook sets with braid, but did not like that noise of braid going through my guides or the decreased casting distance associated with braid. I would have two rods one with braid and one with co-poly and same weight Zig Jig tied on both. The co-poly casts further with less effort. first trip with Nanofil, I kept throwing my Jig way up the bank because the Jig was going lots further with less effort in the cast than my braid rod or copoly rod. i was given my first spool of nano by a friend with an industry connection. I thought it was just another braid. I had no expectations of it out performing braid and certainly had no idea that it was going to become the line I use on spinning 90% of the time. I don’t get anything out of preaching the Gospel of Nanofil. I just think it is a superior product and I am amazed that so many struggle with it or dislike it. It isn’t a perfect product. Light baits in wind is an issue, but I’m gonna use it until something better comes along. I use 6,8, and 10 lb. if I need something stronger than that I will go back to braid (Power Pro 8/20 or whatever).

    My First Elk Hunt

Man, that’s a lot of meat.
  18. Big brother is in on every digital conversation. You should have no delusions about privacy.
  19. I use small diameter tippit for fly fishing and fluro for bass fishing, but not a user of fluro for leader with my nano
  20. Yeah Pete, I do. I would not consider Lower visibility to be worth the extra BS and expense of a fluro line BUT AGAIN everybody should do what they are happy with
  21. I don’t understand why ppl use Fluorcarbon lines for leader material. I’ve never read an explanation or justification for putting up with the difficulty getting good knots from fluro. What upsides offset the potential downsides?
  22. I think a leader knot has failed on me ONCE on a fish. If you hang up and try to pull free, it’s 50/50. Ill be glad to demonstrate Alberto to anyone that fishes with me or just tie your leader on
  23. Nano gets some twist, but it is. Usually confined to the last few feet of the nano. You can get most of it out by pulling it between your fingers, but it doesn’t effect much. Nano does float, but I don’t think it keeps baits from sinking properly and acts as a built in strike detector. I have found nanofil on sale and bought ahead. I fill my spinning reels with mono and then strip off 70 yards off mono and reel on 70 yards of nano. You get at least two reels covered and it lasts a LONG time. Problem : Wind will catch it and kite your bait solution: keep your rod tip low and drop line to surface when you are actively lifting bait. Problem: baits weighing less than 1/16 of an ounce are hard to throw. Solution: throw baits weighing 1/16 oz or more OR throw lighter stuff on 2-4 lb mono.
  24. Why would you say that Rick?
  25. Here’s a fish caught on 8 lb nano
