Seth you blood thirsty SOB.....how dare you offend any PETA people with your heinous pictures on social media....The ironic thing is it seems like most PETA people would be more concerned about saving a feral cat who wonders into Busch stadium than an unborn human being aborted. You are a twisted dude Seth......shame on you for giving the harvest of Whitetail deer a bad perception to any PETA people on FB. I always knew you were a sick puppy
-
I would agree with you Seth but, I think it is about to break loose for you on the Gacy....once that water stabilizes for little bit I think you and Mr. Bench will be crushing them. I think they have been DEEP back up in the logs in typical areas and holding tight but, on a very selective feeding schedule that a lot of times may be at night IMO......oncr again here am trying to over analyze things.....oh boy
-
Dude that is soooo awesome...I guess yer right, that is rare deal when they are that actively eating like that....I always try to over analyze every scenario out on the water. Accept it for what it is but, I will be smiling at the insurance agency tomorrow hahahaha

I had the opportunity to go fish for a few hours on Sunday and with very little time to ever go these days it seems, I had to take advantage of it. I fished out of my yak and launched from my good buddy Hog Wally's ramp. I wasn't expecting much and was really just trying to get out for a few and maintain my sanity. I pulled my truck down to the river at his place and he came down to say hello. This whole summer season has been a bit scarce on big fish and has had me thinking of all kinds of reasons as to why???....post flood problems???...bad gigging year??? Who knows??? But there just hasn't been a lot of bigger fish around to speak of really. While chatting with Hog at his ramp I immediately nailed a little 13 incher on a dawg bait and had me getting excited as to what may come. I simply paddled up river about a half mile and worked my way back to his ramp. The moment I started throwing a dawg bait upstream it was obvious the fish were eating. For me me as long as you were near structure that was in fairly swift water and made a very accurate cast to the most optimal spot it was a no brainer. The fish were hitting my bait so ferociously and fighting so hard it was really something. Also the size of the fish were just flat out quality. The smallest fish I caught today was at the ramp and I guess some would consider it a keeper at 13 inches??? I measured about 4 fish on my hawg trough to make sure my estimates on lengths is still on. All the fish were from 14 to 17 inches that I landed and I also goofed and let what looked to be an 18 to 19 incher break me off, it snapped 12lb test pretty easy on a devilish run at the yak, if it wouldn't have taken my expensive dawg bait I would not have really minded. I caught 15 Smallies and 1 Spotted bass in about an hour and a half. I know Hog put his boat in and went down stream with his family with even better results. While driving home I couldn't help but wonder why were the fish so active??? The approaching weather??....lower water temps???....who knows but, I will have a smile on my face tomorrow morning at the desk for sure. The big fish are seemingly back and all is well on my favorite river☺ Hog Wally you are living the dream brother.....kudos my friend

Congrats Pete!!!! And you are correct about Aaron, he's as cool as the other side of the pillow

Well ain't that a biotch????....I guess my wife and I are the stupid ones we paid our student loans back in full. There are quite a few ways to be drain on the tax base in this society that's for sure especially considering practically nobody pays ~~ in Federal taxes. The great Ponzi scheme we call the USA
-
sorry but, I don't buy that one......you still owe on the loans, you may get to defer the loan out in some cases. You still owe on the loans.....that sounds like a fishing story to me

very cool -
So have I and both times it was in Kansas in a non alcohol joint where you had to buy a lifetime membership to get in. The girls also came around for money for the juke box. The Kansas boys I was with thought these places were the bees knees as far as strip joints go....and I was like obviously you've never been East side then???
-
Mitch is okay to have an opinion because it's just that an opinion. If someone is telling you your opinions are wrong or they offend someone??? Well that sucks....anyone who has opinion is at least in the game and I like that. Anyone who thinks their opinion is better than yours or that your opinion is wrong is actually a bigot.

you are correct Hog.....looks like Nick hit a rock below Sand Ford and threw himself out of the boat. https://www.mshp.dps.missouri.gov/WP03/AccidentDetailsAction?ACC_RPT_NUM=170538700 I saw a guy yesterday right above 141 take the North channel around Tweaker Shoal with both of his small kids with him and one sitting in his lap. He attempted to go over the waterfall basically, why I will never know??? Anyway he ripped open that Alweld and bloodied both of his sons faces who were wearing lifejackets but, it was one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. Then he ran down stream and made some horrific sounding rock contact on the shoal below the railroad bridge.....entertaining.

Just about finished with my little river scooter

Hog Wally and I were looking for this morning. 60/40 is the smallest I would ever consider unless the boat is completely bare bones and one person only. -
I had the pleasure of fishing with my good buddy Hog Wally Sunday morning for a nice little 3 1/2 hour run. We didn't take pics even though we should have. We brought some beautiful 17 inch fish to hand but, chose to get them back in the river immediately. Hog had been telling me about a pattern he has going that I was intrigued about to say the least. We fished the Meramec anywhere from The State Park in Sullivan to River Round. The action was quick and fast paced and possibly not for everyone. You had to be firing casts as quick and as accurate as possible with the right equipment. We were fishing in areas that not many people are fishing I'm quite sure, with a normal technique that was what the fish wanted. These bass were roving packs of killer whales breaching bait. It was a fun time. We didn't even keep track of numbers and I measured one fish that I thought was 16 and Hog said it was17.5.....it was 17 1/4☺ we had good numbers of beautiful 10 to 15 inch hard fighting Smallies and I think 1 Largemouth. We both lost big fish but the water conditions and areas we were getting bit were treacherous honestly. I had an absolute blast and learned from my friend you need to adapt and give the fish what they want where they want it even if it is not the typical way you are a custom to. Fun stuff

Dang I thought you were gonna have one of those epic days out there....kinda forgot about the rain hahaha Very cool pics and looked like a sweet float none the less. I am always on the look out for impassable rivers and creeks
-
Man it's good seeing Macey I miss seeing her smiling face....need to get out there and see my Macey. Aaron the diversity of a healthy creek is inspiring as you know. One thing I love about creeks is you get to see how all the animals and fish interact...multipy that and you have the river....school is in session if you're paying attention. The funny thing is Aaron has more access to killer water than anyone I know but fishes out of his boat 99.9% of the time and I don't blame him Great job brother
-
Sweet!!!!! Great job!!!! My dad who lives down there says if you can't fish a spoon you are missing out on 33% of the fishing
