  1. Also, and I am not try to debate here, how do the stated rainfall patterns/trends correlate to climate change? Again, I am not debating or questioning out of disbelief, I honestly want to learn the connection.
  2. I present to you a graphic illustration (one added to by me, for comic relief) of the Earth's temperatures over the last 1 million, 150 thousand, 16 thousand and 150 years found here. I in no way agree or disagree with the additional content found here within as I have not read it. I only came to the url for the graph via Google Images. Would it be possible for someone here to definitively tell me how the human race is responsible for the other periods of global warming hundreds of thousands of years ago? I am assumptive that no one will be able to, so moving forward under that assumption, can anyone tell me how we can be 100% certain that the human race is responsible for the latest peak in global warming? My stance on global warming is: It exists, obviously, but I feel that the Earth's temperature would be very near what it is today given the scenario that we as a race were not the industrialized civilization we are today. Again this is my stance and I know others have vastly different stances and I do respect that. Additionally, I do feel that the changes discussed in this thread regarding alternative fuel sources and reforestation among others all do need to be addressed, if not for the planet, for our sustainability. Just as I feel we haven't significantly raised the Earth's temperature I don't feel it is possible for the human race to do the opposite. I think we are just along for the ride like the skier on the graph. We can't control the ups and downs anymore than he. With that being said I would still like to see the changes discussed be implemented, so can't we quit debating this subject that people from each extreme have agreed that there is no concrete evidence pointing to yes or no and work together toward those changes? Thank you to FlySmallie for posting the fox hat pic in the other thread
  3. Put me down for a Magic PTN
  4. When I read the title I thought it was going to be another Branson Belle thread. I was pleasantly surprised! Nice fish!!
  5. You mean it was wrong of me to drop my 4 year old off in the woods with my ar15 and a box of ammo for youth season???? Joking aside, your statement, Justin, is sadly true. Fortunately my son has taking a liking to everything outdoors he has experienced so far. When we are stuck in Springfield for the weekend and even through the week his two of his three favorite places to go are lake Springfield and Bass Pro (behind the dancing rat with bad pizza).
  6. 8/10 You really know trout! We're guessing you can lay down a pinpoint 40' cast in a stiff wind and tie a blood knot with your eyes closed. In fact, we think it's safe to say... You DO Know Trout — and you've been entered in our grand prize drawing to win a Dream Fishing Trip and fly fishing gear package from Orvis! I admittedly guessed right on 2 or 3 though.
  7. Tell her to pack extra layers since you won't be there to keep her warm. See you on the first I'll supply brats (and buns and mustard and ketchup) for someone to cook on their grill if one will be present. It's just not feasible for me to bring mine. How many brats do you guys think we would need?
  8. From someone who has been there within the last year, jest go out in the yard and cast your line like you were standing in the stream. Full rod and all. I started by watching a TON of videos on youtube. Then I went out and did some casting with only fly line. Once you get the feel of that tie on some leader and tippet with an inch or so of bright colored yarn. By doing this you can simulate a fly on the end of your line without hooking anything. I would only get comfortable in the yard though and not worry about your timing being perfect because once you hit the water the physics change with the addition of water. Your line will have more resistance and you will have to tweak your stroke any way. Hope this helps and welcome.
  9. mmmm Boddington's... Oh yeah, nice fish and pics too!
  10. That too, but I didn't want to be the one to go there.
  11. You don't want the boogey man attacking you from your blindside do you?
  12. Looks like it was something related to the Ozarks Fly Fishers (by Googling "Queeny Park January 12, 2010" which was the following Tuesday when the post was made 11 months ago) but I don't know for sure. I wasn't here then. I hadn't even ever touched a fly rod then actually!

  15. here are a few options: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/36_211 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/36_385 (Rossi has some 22/12ga combos that he might get more use out of as he gets older?) http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/36_107 (don't know what your budget is, but in addition to the lever actions Henry makes an "Acu-Bolt" shown on this page as a scoped combo for $308) http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/36_323 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/36_758 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/36_351 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/36_57 (597 w/scope for $200 shown on this page) http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/36_62 I don't know what to tell you on the lever/bolt/semi auto front, but whatever you decide you should be able to find what you want at a decent price at the above links. With Bud's you do have to read the description to ensure that a rifle pictured with a scope or other accessories includes the additional items as they use a lot of stock photos.
  16. There are several over the counter ointments available for the effects of such contact. As someone previously posted in another thread, all outdoorsman should be tree huggers to a great extent.
  17. This time of year I would have to say he was traveling home from visiting family for Thanksgiving. It appears as if he ate too much turkey and climbed the tree to take a nap. He looks perturbed by the person snapping the photo, not unlike the look of someone who was awaken by someone else changing the channel from the Lions game he fell asleep watching.
  18. I am looking forward to my next trip out, I cant wait to tie on some tiny midges. I've got a whole row of various colors in my box that I got from some guy the last time I was at Bennett.
  19. Definitely a good picture. I wish mine had a setting to take multiple pictures on a timer or something.
  20. The truth it is that they speak.
  21. Jerry, I thought we covered this tactic the last time we all met up at BSSP?
