Very nice!. I went on a walleye seaching to Truman Monday evening. Only managed one but it was a personal best for me at 7.2 and just over 26 inches. We were throwing jigs and crankbaits, wish I had taken some borrow bouncers too but didnt.

There is a lot of comfort to be gained from taking a break while fishing on a smallmouth stream and a pausing at one of the feeder springs, finding just the right depth and mixture of cold and regular water, and popping the top on a cold brew and enjoying it while soakingg up the coolness. Of course it's MUCH better in a location where there aren't a bunch of other people, just the sound of the river and the outdoors.

Before the lake went high and the water was clear, I had a blast easing along the shoreline and with all the fish you could see it was a game to catch a particular fish, if another one grabbed it, didnt count.

I have no problem with a 9 inch length limit on crappie, there is certainly no shortage of crappie. Anyone who wants to throw back the 9 inches certainly can and many of us do, there are more than enough 10s and better around as well. Lakes like Pomme, Truman and LOZ with 9 inch MLL, sure seem to have plenty to choose from.

Yep, 2018 should be a phenomenal year thanks to the high water in 2015, and with this year's high lake levels 2020 should be great too. Just don't spread the word too far.

Was at a friend's house last night, he was out in his yard pcking some chanterelles. Sautéed them in some butter and served as snacks. While i am still not overly found of them (I think it's the texture) they weren't bad. Rain and warm should make the boletes in my yard pop too.

From personal experience I will add.that once you have the trailer hooked up, swing that jack stand up and away right then and there, dont.think, eh I will get it in a minute. Amazing how much of a ditch it can dig in your yard. -
Corps changes to shoreline... good or bad?

Wow, Vernon I though I was cynical, and not believing/trusting of elected legislators. -

Basically yes. -
Darinb, as others said take your time on Truman and learn the area. I launch out of Fairfield as its closer for me. Truman is a fabulous fishery, just be ready willing and able to change your plans. You maybhink you are going to spend a day flipping a jig into flooded brush, but when the schools of big whites and hybrids show up, by all means stop and fish them too.

Definitely prayers and good thoughts for Richard.

Loctite gel control - uuuhhgggg! Someone learn me!
MOPanfisher replied to C Beach's topic in General Angling Discussion
I guess I have been under thinking it or just not paying attention. I use the gorilla gel and a tube of something called fishing glue igoe from bps. That stuff is thin and very clear, is easy to get glue on your fingers, but I wear old pants fishing for a reason and just wipe it off. Haven't had problems with them gluing shut, and I am definitely not a quick cap putter back on person. -
I used to have one of those!

Hey Vernon, this Threads for you, SNAKE stories, Pranks
MOPanfisher replied to MoCarp's topic in General Angling Discussion
I have had two deputies/law enforcement types over the years threaten to shoot me over a snake. One just flat said he would shoot me if I came close to him with the black snake I had caught. The second didn't realize I had a speckled kingsnake wrapped around my arm when he walked up to me, he dropped his hand to his gun and began backing away, stating I will shoot you if you throw that thing at me, got in his car and left. Then there is the meanest prank of all times for someone who truly fears snakes. put a dead snake in the floor board of their car, tie a piece of fishing line to the door so that when they open the door the snake "jumps" out at them. Hint, only do this to people who are smaller than you (they get violent) and those who do not carry fire arms. Imagine if you will, Vernon opening a compartment on his shiny boat, and a snake jumps up. For some people it would be a very dangerous prank, they would happily injure themselves or you to get a way or possibly have a heart attack. I however draw the line at doing things to peoples private vehicles because karma sucks and so does retribution. -
We are only going to drop it to 100 CFS right now, am holding some water back for a 3 day swift water training next week as well. "normal" late spring into early summer level is 841.0. Held a little high to enhance the survivability of fish spawn/fry.

While not out of the question I would think common carp with their soft lips would have a very tough time getting zebras off of anything, but certainly could happen on occasion. There are some smaller asian clams that don't attach to anything and could easily end up in a cars stomach. I know blue cats and drum will eat some as well. It is only a matter of time befor missouri and likely mist states move to a set of rules like KS has. Live bait must be from same water body or bought commercially from a certified dealer, any fish you leave a water body with has to be dead I believe also.

As far as I know nobody carries anti venom with them, it is prescribed by a doctor, and sometimes hard to find, and I think given via an IV, but others will have better knowledge than me on that.
-
Until I did a quick search I didn't even know there was an anti venom for a copperhead bite. I have never been concerned over whether or not folks like or don't like snakes, or kill them if in their yard. Out in the wild if you feel threatened do what you feel you need to do, if they aren't bothering you, have a short case of the shivers and continue on with whatever you are doing. Personally I am more like to get bitten than someone like Vernon, because I am likely to try to catch and mess with it, cause that's just me. Now red wasps, they are evil and viscious, kill every nest you find, I hate them things.

Corps changes to shoreline... good or bad?
MOPanfisher replied to dougdean's topic in Table Rock Lake
OK, from what I can see and find the COE hasn't changed anything. What has happened essentially is they gone back to the previous, already approved plan that they have been operating under for quite a while. I strongly encourage anyone interested to bookmark the COE website for Table Rock, there is a ton of information on the proposed plan and the one they are currently operating under. The Little Rock District Public Affairs Office is unlikely to ever be allowed to come onto a forum such as this and provide specific answers to questions as it is a public forum instead of a Govt owned and operated one, however they can and probably will be adding information to their official website. It has a LOT of information on it. -
Awesome, I wasn't sure you would find them or not. BTW have you found any of the Burmese Pythons I left. Biggest was only about 8 feet.

I may use this as my philosophy on life. Yeah I edited it some.

Amen sir. -
You have to appreciate the little things. She might not remember how to work the phone, but she sure advised me when I was making gravy for salisbury steaks tonight. Stress, yes but not would not trade a single minute of the time away.

Corps changes to shoreline... good or bad?
MOPanfisher replied to dougdean's topic in Table Rock Lake
I will say that how you feel about shoreline management rules depends entirely upon your outlook. If you are someone who is looking to buy a lake home well who wouldn't want a dock close by and handy. If you are a realtor, having dock space to include with a home or lot sure makes it easier to sell and at a higher price. If you already have a lake home and dock having more docks on the lake makes your home and dock less special and thus less valuable. If you are the county government, more docks equals more people buying and spending in the county, and increasing the tax revenues. Mire docks equals more people and boats, increasing the number of accidents and problems for law enforcement. If you like to fish docks more isn't bad, if you like the pristine natural shoreline docks are ugly. If you used to have a natural view from your home and suddenly there is a big ole dock there you may or may not be happy. Suffice it to say there is zero possibility to satisfy everyone or even come close.
