Taking of Feral Livestock Prohibited on Corps Kansas City District Lands in Missouri Kansas City, MO. The Corps Kansas City District which owns and manages wildlife habitat and public hunting lands in Missouri has announced a prohibition on the taking of feral livestock, to include feral hogs, under the Title 36 Code of Federal Regulations (Title 36). This new regulation under Title 36 corresponds with the regulation recently enacted by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC). The MDC regulation to prohibit the taking of feral livestock applies only to areas their agency owns or manages. The Corps regulation was instituted to support the MDC effort to eradicate feral livestock from Corps lands that are managed for the benefit of fish and wildlife and to ensure consistency in regulations between Corps and MDC managed areas which are often immediately adjacent to each other. The Corps Kansas City District is part of the Missouri Feral Swine Task Force which is led by MDC.

I hope they do eradicate them. Seems late in the year to see baby loons, but the way this year is going, it may be time to plant some green beans.

Water Resources Development Act of 2016
MOPanfisher replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Table Rock Lake
Sorry you are correct sir, I was think it was a different grant for marine sewage. This one appears to be essentially a grant to build new docks. Money from the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund, seems to be what is funding it, with some matching funds from the owner and other agencies. On that point I can agree with you, not sure I like the idea of any grant/tax/etc. funding the addition of dock stalls regardless of whether or not they are for large boats. Business and need or demand drive the enlargement process, although I honestly can't fault the Campbell Point Owners for finding a funding source that is out there. many of the groups who have grant money to use, will recruit people to apply for the grants and funding. Again sorry I was completely on a different track for a while. -

I will still be the odd man out on the MDC grant for the marine sewage pump out dock at Campbell Point. MDC provided part of the funding, USFWS provided some, Campbell point marina ponied up some I believe. it is a service that is needed on the lakes and the grants are out there to used for that. MDC is doing their part to handle the grant applications and be the delivery vehicle, and keeping with the theme of protecting state waters. I wish more state waters would host marine pump out stations, the boats with septic holding tanks are already out there, and the alternative is they will dump their tanks back in a cove out of site or while cruising down the lake. -
RPS, not gonna lie that looks good, cept for the curry flavor. but it is tough to cook in the boat while fishing but it would be tasty cold too I bet.

Dump some pace picante into the can, eat while fishing, put empty can into bag, hopefully to throw way later instead of left to decompose. even better if you remember to bring a fork or spoon.

Smoking, a variety of chemical cleaners, many different pesticides, welding, depliynwnt to various disastwr areas, etc. more than enough reasons to "get" me. in the end it as a follow up to an annual physical that cost me a year and half or so of my life, a lot of my memory, and a good chunk of physical ability in balance and agility. according to the Dr. it was nothing more than that I lost a genetic lottery. I honestly have no idea how much the total bill was, by the grace of God, through my employment I had some very good insurance, essentially after $6K a year everything is covered. I am able to see my grandson grow up and my daughter take on life in the work force, watch my son go through college and enjoy the occasional day fishing etc. (Never enough though). Prior to all of the drama the diagnosis and subsequrnt chemo and a bone marrow transplant I was an annoyingly healthy and aging un gracefully adult male, crap can hit you gast and out of nowhere. Don't ignore signs or problems, get them checked out, somethings can be treated a LOT easier and more successfully the earlier it's found. However I make no claim to be unbiased.

Was over at the marina today and Hugh showed it to me. I think it is awesom!

Well the expirament is over. garlic/butter/cheddar biscuits, a big skillet of Brussel sprouts quartered and seasoned with balsamic, and finally the chowder. the short version is that it doesn't bode well for me doing catch and release for white bass in the future. the chowder stated out tasting basically like a very very good potato soup, then as I trimmed up the white bass fillets, saving the "tenderloins" out and tossing the rest into the stew pot where it cooked and fell apart and became part of the mix. added the scallops and shrimp last. poached the tenderloins in a liquid of water, liquid crab boil, some old bay seasoning and a dash of fish sauce (heck why not). the chowder is a little dark as I let the roux go just a dash long, and used a lot of old bay seasoning. I did add a can of smashed up oysters but not a whole lot else. The biscuits and sprouts were from my wife, and even my son and his gilfriend and her sister ate it up. Finally had to go outside to cool off as I was sweating. Short version is Mmmmmmm Mmmm good.

Springfield lake 10/28
MOPanfisher replied to crappie_adams83's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
Them is some nice fat largemouth would be surprised at a truly large Smallie coming out of there though, although it seems many records come from strange places. -
I used the wrong term really, it wouldn't be a garnish I guess. but either some chunks of the spics fish on top or maybe on the bottom of the bowl. the main ingredients have been selected, my wife brought home shrimp, scallops and some crab meat. hoping for a rich creamy chowder to offset the spicy fish. we shall see. I also have a leek left over from something else.

Going to attempt a fish chowder tomorrow night. Am expirament in today with a possible garnish. I have a bowl of fresh white bass fillets in the fridge so I sacrificed one to a small sauce pan with water, zatarins crab boil and some old bay seasoning. the plan was to boil them quickly and use chunks of the boiled fish to garnish to top of the bowls, or heck in the bottom if you want I guess. learned so far, chunks of fish fillet cook fast in boiling water, didnt hold together as well as I had hoped (might get better as it cools), it is easy to get too much spice on them and make your lips burn, but still needed a dash of salt/pepper/garlic powder mix I like. Pretty tasty actually. boiled white bass, who would have thunk it.

Likely Phil is correct, if it is a large dock it takes a while to get built and in place, depending on how much of a back log the builder had. when politics get involved in attempting to circumvent an agency policy it is usually not to benefit the public in general. the only thing I am ever sure about politicans is their number one concern is re-election. maybe I just have a biased and jaded view of politicians. -
Flysmallie, biscuits and cobblers are the best out of a Dutch oven, never sure if they tasted different, or it was the fun of making them outside, or maybe I was always hungrier.

I am gonna give the whites and crappie a run tomorrow I hope.

I have one enameled one I bought some years back, didnt expect to use it that much honestly but we use the heck.out of it. soups, stews, jambalaya, chili etc etc. anything you want to.cook low and slow without having all day to wait on a crockpot. I may give the fish/seafood chowder a shot in it this weekend if I don't get busy fishing or mowing the grass one last time.

Water Resources Development Act of 2016
MOPanfisher replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Table Rock Lake
I tried to find the actual wording of the amendment, as I am not a very trusting person, especially where politicians are incolved. so far all I have been able to find is Billy Longs articles and explanation. IF it is as he described it might not be as bad as I feared, his description is that it would basically lift the current moratorium, and delay the Shoreline Management Plan update for 5 years, it would basicall return to things to the former SMP rules, doesn't sound like it would be a free for all. however it would through out all the planning, work, public comments received so far and force a re-start from scratch, kicking the can down the road so to speak, and wasting the last 2 years or so of work. sounds like a well thought out idea right? again anymore I don't trust any politicians, I will.continue to.search for the actual wording, if someone better than I finds it please post it up or at least a link. Might have found it.https://www.congress.gov/amendment/114th-congress/house-amendment/1449?q={"search"%3A["hr+5303"]} -

Water Resources Development Act of 2016
MOPanfisher replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Table Rock Lake
There is no question that having a dock or a slip in a dock increased you property value, as does having a clear view to the lake. I don't believe if Long/Blunt get their way that it would be an unrestricted permitting process, there would still have to be some placement control, i.e. you couldn't just place a dock anywhere. Similar things have been tried before and usually get shot down before they pass, however in a year like this one, I wouldn't even hazard a guess where this one will end up. -

The fact that most of the e-mails came from developers should clearly tell the tale. Its about $$$ not saving or protecting the lake. -

MOPanfisher replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Table Rock Lake
Phil you and the Capt. don't donate nearly enough money to either Long or Blunt. I heard about this earlier, some folks make complaints and basically the legislators decided that the Corps was letting the people do what they wanted to do and was trying to force the opening of dock permits/zoning. Not quite sure how the legislator goes around the multiple Nationwide regulations that apply to the program. Although I do try to watch occasionally as it will affect me as well. -
That's some nice iron BH. when I was first married my wife decided to scurb out one of my cast iron skillets. I was a little upset, she even cried. now she is better although from time to time I chastise her for skillet abuse like cooking stuff on too high heat or not cleaning it quickly. usually I simply dumpnsome water in it after use and steam/simmer it a little while, at that point it will usually scrub right put with minimal pressure from a plastic scrubbie. for seasoning I do cisco and put it on the grill to keep the smoke out of the house. I even rescued one from a house fire after convincing the owner not to throw them away, cleaned up, crisco grill etc. it was just fine. I also dry my skillets in the stove after cleaning and give them a light vegetable oil rub before storing them on top of my heating stove. (propane), even acts as a heat sink in winter to absorb heat and release it slowly through the cast iron skillets on top.

Canoes Reek of Genocide, Theft and White Privilege
MOPanfisher replied to Flysmallie's topic in General Chat
Well by those standards the very English language could be tied to theft, genocide and whatever else it was. the use of horses by the mongols could be an Asian version. Fortunately there a lot.of kids who hear this sort of stuff even in high school and simply say ooookayyyyy and move on. Sadly there will be some who simply don't think for themselves or who don't read that it might stick in their brains as "fact" but hopefully not many. -
