Without a boat it would be tough to do much more than observe until they return to the launch point. Agent: "yes your honor I observed the defendant gig what appeared to be a game fish, specifically a largemouth bass, so I yelled at them to stop and motor down to the ramp.so I could issue them a ticket, but by the time they got there they didn't have any illegal fish in the boat".
-
This was literally about 15 minutes from my house. I know both of the agents, they made a bust for illegal gigging on opening.day of firearms deer season. Dont you know that was a loooong day. Way to go Susie and Keith.

Nice one! I am sitting in stand right now hoping a lil one comes by. Got plans to smoke a couple hind quarters for New Years Eve.

That is sad, Flysmallie. But not everyone likes the same stuff.

JD, Barnes is a great hospital, it was between Barnes and KU for me and KU was more convenient, but they are good, follow drs. Instructions even if you don't feel up to it.

Straight up old school for supper. My grandparents would immediately recognize as supper and it would be welcome in any deer camp. I knew it was good when the stove had 2 cast iron cook pieces on it hen I came home. The enameled dutch over is full of white gravy with lots of sausage, skillet has fried taters, and a tray of buttermilk biscuits in the oven. Not much of a diet meal but delicious.

S'okay Joe, being an American means you have the right to voice opinion. (Even if it's wrong, ). My son then 15 decided to make ratatouille, he found a recipe after watching the movie a few hundred times in his life. While not quite what I expected it was pretty good. And a few weeks ago I ate at a Lebanese resturant in Spfld, skewered grilled meat, stuffed grape leaves, and some kind of soup that was pretty dang good. New things are interesting if not always delicious. Honestly I wish more young folks would read threads like this one, mine included, seems if it isn't pre packaged and nearly ready to eat they won't fix it. Rotisserie chickens from wal mart and a bag of hawaiian rolls, and salad in a bag. Less than $20, delicious and enough for 3 easily. Or learn the simplistic ease of a crock pot, throw the cheapest meat in the store in it, add canned soup or stock, onions etc, turn on and come home to a meal ready to eat. Days during deer season often ended that way for me with the addition of a bread machine. Walking in after a long cold day to the smell of a slow cooker.roast and fresh bread, memories.

Hmm sort of like reading about other people catching fish, or watching a sport on tv.

Hang in there JD. Thoughts and prayers for success.

I don't think I am certified but I have lots of experience. That duck sounds yummy. Love making stock out of the carcass. I usually deep.fry a turkey for thanksgiving, then drop the bones, and the carcass into a bot to boil with seasonings. Kind of a pain to pick out all the little bones, but the result when either wild rice or egg noodles are added is often better than the turkey.

It is not a new thing for the concept of greed. Has been around a long time. The black Friday sales and being open on Thanksgiving is very subjective I know people who treat black Friday and even thanksgiving day sales like opening day of deer season, turkey season and trout season all rolled into one. I for one will likely be napping, cutting wood or maybe loading ammo thanksgiving afternoon and back to work on Friday there is nothing at those sales that interests me that much, but for others it does. I couldn't care less about professional sports but some folks live for NFL, NBA and MLB. And remember if it weren't profitable the stores wouldn't be opening Thanksgiving day.

I love postickers but don't make them. I love to take bone marrow out of whatever and spread it on a piece of meat. Mmmmmmm good. Going to make a ake and go dinner for my daughter and SIL today. Will season a sear some chicken breasts in a skillet then toss then in crock pot with marinara sauce that I will upgrade to my taste. That way they can eat it when get get home, just have to boil the linguini noodles and I will have all afternoon to do grampa stuff like teach him to make fart noises with his arm pit.

Deer were trying there best to ruin a perfectly good hunt this evening. Doe and fawn hung around for 30 minutes or so, laughed out loud at them once. Mama jumped the fence but junior couldn't or wouldn't do it. He ran back down a ways to a lower spot and jumped there. Buck passed through back in the brush, no shot. Finally started to sprinkle and didn't want to walk home in the rain so I bailed out, pretty dark by then anyway.

Good windy days can sure put them up on the bank, sure are fun when you are in the right place at the right time.

Since wife is done I am looking out at this view right now, theoretically I am deer hunting but a coyote or bobcat would be in more danger than a deer right now.

I never said it would change anything just that the lake is not ruined. Loz, smithville, grand, perry, milford and the great lakes, just to name a few all have zebra mussels. Some thing may require adjustment but unless a lake is extremely infertile to begin with I don't think they will take out the food chain base. Don't get me wrong I wish they would vanish completely but it ain't gonna happen. There is another related mussel the Quaggas I believe that can survive down to 60 feet but I am not aware of any in the Midwest yet.
-
The lake is certainly not ruined. Other lakes with them are not ruined so why expect Bull Shoals to be. There is no way to get rid of them so you will simply have to deal with them.

Wish I had been fishing too. Nice report.

Well I got the pics just forgot the words. Wife passes on 50 cent (half a buck) sat morning, couldn't get a shot at the big boy though. Sat evening a different buck, little 8 came out and she kapowed him. Then this morning when she walk out of the house I knew what the outcome would be, sitting in my recliner thinking about dozing off I heard her shoot and was already getting dressed when she texted me. "I am done". Little button buck. Between her killing spree, working a managed hunt last weekend and helping a group clean up a vacant lot I am ready to go back to work and rest up before I even consider going hunting.

If you catch a mountain lion on a whopper plopper do you need a fishing or a hunting license. If I was forced to shoot one for some reason my first call would be to an agent. If legit you are way better off making the call instead of them finding out about it later. If ticketed I will take my chances with the prosecutor and judge.
-
One of the problems with MDC or any other agency proclamations are that they don't change with time and circumstances. Early instances were likely young males looking for a territory, given time and food source along come some females and viola' breeding pairs just like black bears. And yes all wildlife is covered by the Wildlife Code, that is its purpose. So yes if you shoot a.mountain lion you better be able to give a good accounting for how it was a.danger to you or your property.

I love to still hunt in a light to moderate rain. Deer will move and the rain and damp conditions.mask my noise. My wife hunts only from her box blind, she says let it rain.

just an observation about this year vs. last year
MOPanfisher replied to Jerry Rapp's topic in General Angling Discussion
Passing a law on the electrical service will mean nothing if no way to enforce it. Las year on the sunday of deer season opening ot was cold and snowing at my house.
