  1. Big smile, and he is wearing a life jacket. AWESOME!
  2. Hmm I have fished with a few of those guys, and have been a few of those guys before.
  3. Shoal Creek lists 3 fatal and 3 non fatal incidents from drownings to jet ski incidents since 7/24. Elk River 2 drownings july 13th & 17th. & may 16, capsize and drowning, All that just this year.
  4. That can't be true, I had a very nice gentleman in the office just yesterday explaining that it is impossible to catch fish in Pomme they are apparently all gone. Said you can catch them in Stockton, Truman, Lake of the Ozarks etc. I agreed with him and said nope no fish left in Pomme.
  5. Be care down there, that portion of the state has been rough on folks who play in the water in the last couple months.
  6. Was checked last week and was in good shape, still high at 852 or so. Courtesy dock is not useable yet, but debris should be clear and slope should be useable. As for the fishing I haven't heard anything.
  7. I usually have two rods one with either a rebel craw crank bait or a rapala original in hot steel color. Second rod usually has a soft plastic of some sort on it exactly what depends on my mood and where I am. I am not much of a top water guy except for an occasionalall black jitterbug after dark.
  8. If you want to get a regulation change to let alone through the Commission then have to show; numbers, data, research, hard facts, without it all you have is someone's idea or thoughts not facts no matter how many might agree. And regulations are not going to change based upon our opinions regardless of how educated any of us might be. Honestly I would prefer to see some of the conservation groups make a push for the state to clear up access/ownership along and in streams than pushing for particular regulation changes right now. One of the biggest lessons learned from successful organizations such DU and NWTF is money talks and working with agencies is much more successful than trying to Convince them you are right.
  9. We used to call this time of year when they put out warnings for old folks and little kids to stay iside, "Hillbilly Trout fishing weather aka smallmouth. Slather on the sunblock and take plenty of riffle breaks and catch a few.
  10. Put the word out that sasquatch eat smallmouth bass, voted for Obama, and taste like froglegs. The species won't last a month till they are wiped out in missouri.
  11. There is a spot over at lead mine where you can drop your stuff, drive to the take out and literally walk back to the put in. Nice little float. Though honestly don't know how to do it with a 3yo, I would say a friend with a kayak would be handy if only for the short shuttle or if you have a dead battery oe flat tire etc. Been there done that, it sucks.
  12. What? a topic on OA went off topic and ran for more pages off topic than on, strange.
  13. Nice. Hope more truman reports keep showing up. Truman has always been pretty quiet on here.
  14. Truman close to 10 feet high, lots of water coming down the river out of pomme, hot and sweaty. Man it could be either feast or famine. The bluff on the west side of the PowerLine would be a starting point. Might be some whites and hybrids around too. Haven't heard many reports from truman lately.

    What's Cooking?

The most adventurous thing I have made lately was some zucchini slices about 1/4 inch thick and a goodly pile of paremeSan cheese, put them on a cookie sheet at 400 or so until they crust up. Boring but tasty. Sad part was my wife had to buy zucchini to make them.
  16. Agree wrench. And though I may not do as well when stuff is on my mind, I might actually enjoy it more, or at least appreciate the time on the water more.
  17. Small water pro, I used to float and fish weaubleau creek above kings prairie. Would put it and gerster and take out behind a cornfield. Only place I ever floated where the shuttle between in an out was shorter than the actual float. Don't remember catching many smallies, but plenty of largemouth, green sunfish, bluegills, occasional channel cat. There is a big hole with chunk rock called the Suzy hole I thin that was always good for several fish. Usually floated it earlier in the year or it would turn into a 3 mile drag between holes trip.
  18. That's what I usually find below dams, except maybe not that big. Although on occasion there will be nice ones and the catching amazing. Wish I had the opportunity to go find out.
  19. Your son has a darn nice fish 5bites.
  20. Which Dam? Bagnell?
  21. Maybe you need better electronics to find them. Sorry I just couldn't resist.
  22. A quick Google search found everything from they are special, to they are normal. The information I chose to believe was from a fisheries biologist from Texas that explains them. If correct they are certainly not unique or a hybrid of any kind. I have caught them in several lakes. http://www.bradwiegmann.com/fish-biology/39-fish-biologist/140-crappie-confusion.html
  23. I have done it both ways, they make a lead head that is made to insert inside the tube, others are made to be outside and have a barbed collar to hold the tube. I always like the head that inserted as they didn't tear up as bad but when it does tear up you have to cut off and re-tie, not a bad thing just annoying at times.
  24. I have a grand total of about 100 bucks invested in my new Lorance I bought to replace the original that met it's fate on a stump at Truman. Since I mainly fish areas I am familiar with its all I need at the console. Heck I left the dead one on there for a year because I was too busy last year catching crappie to replace it, then other things came up. I would like to have one up front with GPS as I can't remember where all the brushpile are anymore but am too much of a tightwad to spend that kind of $ on it.
  25. I believe there are restrictions in Title 36 CFR. An area must be designated. My minimal exposure to the topic basically said that the COE wouldn't designate an area unless the MSHP was in support. On a busy lake like TR I doubt that they would support a designated area. Correction: a quick search located the seaplane pilot assn. Or something close to that. Can click on state of MO and get a list of lakes and restrictions. Will see if I am smart enough to put a link in here. http://www.seaplanes.org/mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=122&Itemid=235&page=inc-waterways&waterwayID=1028&waterwayName=Table%20Rock%20Lake&state=MO
