    Storm

Yeah lots of trees down and some damage to building as well.
  4. Depends on where. Uppers ends look like chocolate milk. Lower end decent clarity. In between will be plenty of boaters.
  5. My yard. The last few months in particular I have spend a lot of time casting in the yard, yet to catch anything.
  6. http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/WaterManagement.aspx here is a link to a 3 day forecast. They send us a special one but once you get past the 3 days it gets pretty shaky. With last nights rain I suspect we will roll through yesterdays prediction and on up, wouldn't be surprised to see 857. I know the Truman Lake area got smacked again last night, with lots of damage from trees down to roof damage at the Maint. Area, don't know how much rain they received but any was more than they wanted. If LoZ can get their elevation under control, and if the Mo River at Herman doesn't get too high, and we can all begin releases again etc. Well thats a lot of ifs. The big rains are supposed to be gone, with just popup cells, but if one of them hits in the right spot and drops another inch or two, then it just gets worse. The timing sucks. We are having to move campers off of sites as the water in moving in under their camper, trying to determine which sites are next, and at this level a foot or two makes a lot of difference. And since all the campsites are booked for the weekend thee is no place for them to move to.
  7. Well another 3 inches of rain last night and with outflow current shut down to 100, on up it goes.
  8. Realistically there is no way to close any of the major lakes to recreational boating, especially over the July 4th weekend. You can post advisories and warnings, but thats about it.
  9. I bet it was running big today.
  10. Yeah if it makes that forecast there be a several folks who thought they were camping at the lake this weekend find out they arent. Fortunately they usually miss on the high side.
  11. All of the ones I know, which include fisheries biologists, wildlife biologists, agents, and a few generic hourly folks all fish, some a lot me than me and some less but fish they do, a few of them are pretty good at it.
  12. I have never heard a biologist say that anything was managed perfectly. Ain't no such thing. All of it is a tradeoff or educated guesses. Also most changes in order to make it to/past the commission must have some biological base to it, i.e. hard numbers that can be looked at, experience of the biologist and information received can play into it but there needs to be more than "Here is what I believe I know", no matter who it comes from.
  13. And calling for another inch or two possible tonight. Oh well, if it weren't for the occasional flood there wouldn't be a need for the lake. Down to 500 CFS and will go down to 100 CFS soon.
  14. Well we had been dropping nicely until about 0400 hrs this morning when we got smacked by a deluge. Local flooding and inflows into the lake increased dramatically. Outflow from the dam has been reduced to 1000 CFS, possible reduction even lower. With the inflow the first forecast. Hopefully the forecast misses it high as usual, but more rain chance every day seems like. 15. Sorry I contributed to a complete derailing of the original thread. Hanging around a boat ramp on holiday weekends can be some of the best entertainment around. Working around the lake for the last 25 years or so I have seen fights, near divorces, some really ugly accidents that came from something very simple. I knew a gentleman who rent a campsite nearest the boat ramp and spend the weekend on ramp duty, pair of binoculars, and a cooler of cold beer sitting under his awning.
  16. I gotta admit that for just a second I thought about copying the pic of the stringer of kentuckies and asking if that was the logo.
  17. A nice crappie, a small mouth, a life jacket, and a smiling kid. That sir is a Grand Slam.
  18. My 17 yr old son "discovered" gilligans Island and hogans heros a while back and thnks it is the funniest things to watch, I still laugh at them.
  19. I believe the state of MO does require a boating education course, if born after 1984? Don't remember the date.
  20. Sorry I didn't even think about including the link. http://mdc.mo.gov/conmag/2015/07/learning-about-largemouth
  21. Good Man Bill, you can show them but it doesn't mean they learn. But maybe just maybe the next time he will do it correctly.
  22. I kind of thought the size bass he was holding in the pic was a little odd. But it may be a state lake where they really really want you to keep some.
  23. Am I the only one who chuckled a little when reading the latest edition of the Missouri Conservationist article about eating bass.
  24. Honestly I have never known anyone who uses drum for cut bait. But I guess it should work.

    What's Cooking?

All I season steaks with is a litle real butter and a homemade mix of I believe 4 parts salt, 1 part black pepper and 1 part garlic powder. It has even replaced my salt shakers.
